I recently updated my M32R console to firmware version 4.02. After the update, when powering on the console I would experience intermittently having the screen go black. Everything else about the console seems to function as normal. Now the screen won't turn on at all. The console still functions but I can't see anything on the screen. I've put in a technical support ticket with Midas, but haven't heard back yet. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

      Hello @StevenGwaltney

David Knighton here with Midas support.  I performed a quick search in our CRM to check on your case and it appears you have already been reached by one of our other support agents.  If I can suggest anything in regards to the issue you're having with the console, it would be to downgrade the firmware to 3.07 and see if the issue remains present.  Sometimes odd things can happen during firmware updates, and reinstalling an earlier firmware can have promising results.  Let me know if you need any further assistance and I will gladly help out as best as I can.

    Hi all,

Looking at getting the M32C but have a question.

I'll have my monitors connected to the two TRS sockets on the rack. As well as studio use they are used just to monitor my normal Mac output such as iTunes or Tidal. I guess I can set that up in the sound control panel on the Mac but I want to know if I can use the hardware knob on the front of the M32C to control the output volume for the rear TRS outputs; my monitors do not have a gain control so I like to keep the output form the hardware lowered to prevent 'problems' when my kids use the Mac and turn the Mac volume up too high.  If I can set that up can it be saved as the defualt so will work like that when the unit is powered up?

I've downloaded the M32 app but, with no M32 unit connected it looks to default to one of the biggger consoles so can't work out if the routing will allow the above or not.

The knob on the front does a lot of jobs but volume control isn't one of them. You need to use the volume control in the monitor section. That level I believe is saved with a scene but the unit will start up with whatever the last level used was set for.

Stripeyjoe @GaryHiggins thanks for the reply. Sounds like it won't do what I need, shame they decided to lose the volume control & encoders between the Midas and Behringer versions of the Core. Guess I need to keep a look out for the berry version.

I was going to say that but didn't want to discourage your use of the M32C. I have a Core and it has worked great for well over 5 years. probably way more than 5 as I got it when they first came out. I am an owner of an M32 and MR18 so I am not a Midas basher by amy means BUT the Core is one case where Behringer is the better option over the M32C, esp since neither has preamps! The Core has the volumn control, headphone input, 2 rotary and 4 button controllers on the front. They do pop up here and there. Hope you find one.

Thanks @GaryHiggins guess I'll need to keep an eye out... Would got for the Berry x32 rack but wanted something 1u in height for my desk with a couple of outputs and to have the main connections out of the way. Mostly I'm processing/mixing from my DAW with only a bit of tracking of acoustic instruments.

Hi musicians and technicians. Greetings from Norway

I purchased a Midas M32R live 4 weeks ago. Sold my X32 three years ago which I did a lot of multitrack recording in Cubase

Do apologies for asking this common question, but the search function and result is to generic and to many “wrong answers?

I do have the latest firmware update on my mixer and the DN-32 LIVE card

My routing questions is related to 4 aux inputs routed to input ch 17-20.

I wane be able to record my 4 aux channels trough ch17-22 and to the SD card. Of course I wane playback al the tracks from the SD card to the same input channels for listening and tweaking.

I also want to have the same routing when I record trough usb port and to Cubasis 2 Ipad. I only need to have a 2-track stereo back to my console from my I pad

I had read several posts and youtube video’s but they are mainly on X32 console’s and old firmware.

The ROUTER-USER menu is new to me. Is the solution in the new user tab ?

Please send me an example of routing, ore a link that will clearly show me the answer.

I’ve been routing for 2 weeks and I ‘am out of patient ?

The best way for us to help is to look at your current scene. Save/export the scene and attach the .scn file to your post (see the Choose File button below).

The User In and User Out patching in console firmware V4.xx is very helpful for managing channel input reassignments - particularly with record/play switching for the option card USB/SD.

      Thanks Rex.

I have today studied user in/outs videos and will give it I try before I dump photos from my routing.

If the routing in user in/outs also direct the input and sound to the SD card and DAW, I should manage ?

      @DagFrognerHanse

The best approach is to map all channel inputs for Record through User In and all Card outputs through User Out - using the same patching. This means that the SD/USB tracks will match the console channel numbers. The input Play routing from Card can then be 1:1 and all channels will get the recording from their original source.

If you do run into trouble, please post your scene rather than screenshots. It gives us almost all the information we need to be able to help.

Hello... I have an MR18 that I can use in conjunction with my MacBook Pro or iPad Pro (or Android phone or Kindle Fire, but for this purpose I wouldn't use either of those). My goal is to stream live video of a performance using a mix off the MR18 in place of the audio from the mic on whichever device I choose to capture the video stream. Simultaneouosly I wish to:
    - have live sound in the performance space over my PA system from the MR18
    - record BOTH the audio and video of the event (I realize I shouldn't expect video recording tips on this forum, but if you have any, that'd be awesome)
    - preferably multitrack as I record, rather than just get a main L-R mix.
I have Logic Pro X on the MacBook Pro. I don't have recording software on the iPad Pro, but I do have an USB to lightning adapter it that helps. If all I can do is record the main mix, then so be it. But optimally it would be nice to have the tracks isolated so that I can clean them up in case afterwards I want to upload the video (and I probably will). It's likely to be only 2 tracks (guitar and vocal), but there may be a few more inputs as well.

Thoughts and suggestions? Many thanks... stay healthy and safe, everyone!

On the MacBook Pro, you should be able to record up to 18 channels from the MR18 over USB. The channel sources are set using M-Air Edit on the In/Out -> USB Sends tab. Depending on what streaming software you use, it should be possible to select a pair of the USB channels as audio source.

I believe some users have been able to record multi-channel on iPads but I don't know what software is required.

I use an iPad mini to record. I think it's an iPad mini 2. I've used Auria Pro or MTDaw or AUM apps to record. I've been recording 4 hour live sessions every Friday for a year. 16 channels recorded.  All apps have worked flawlessly. I prefer Auria Pro because I get an AAF which I then import into Protools for mixing.

PaulSinkovich... and you're capturing your video as you live stream as well as recording the video, as well as mixing on the MR18 software to mix as well as tracking in Auria Pro... all simultaneously on the one iPad mini???

I'm using the iPad mini exclusively to record the audio from the xr18. I use GoPros to record the video. Then sync them up with the audio from the xr18 which is recorded on the iPad mini in Auria Pro. I export the AAF file from Auria Pro to my Mac.

What firmware for the M32? You may need to update the firmware to work with the latest M32-Edit version. Also check your network settings, they may have been reset during any update process.

Also are you using a router or direct connecton from computer to mixer?

    Hi All (especially Midas engineers)--

I am interested in building a DP48 system (with Hub4) to replace our P16 systems for several touring setups I production manage. I cannot do this for real until we are able to disable the solo function when hovering over the 48 stem sources (to adjust the 12 stem mix levels). Please let us know if this is coming soon? Our musicians can't have the metronome or rest of their mix disappearing every time they want to tweak a submix mid-performance!

    Thank You

I am trying to use my Yamaha ES6 to trigger ez drummer in my DAW. I have the keyboard midi in and out plugged into  the console but it is not passing midi to my software. Is this possible, or is the midi on the console only for program changes, fader movement etc?

Hello, you need a pc to update, you will not see the firmware version unless connected to the pc via the usb connection.

      Update Process:

      1. Download and unpack the latest updater zip file from midasconsoles.com on your Windows PC

      2. Connect the DL16 USB port to your PC using a standard USB cable (type A -- type B)

      3. Hold the CONFIG button depressed while switching the DL16 on

      4. The DL16 display will show the current firmware version on its display

      5. Make sure you have started your Windows session with Administrator access, then start the updater executable

      6. The terminal window will inform you about the update progress. Wait approximately 1 min until it shows completed.

      7. Disconnect the USB link and switch the DL16 power off / on

      8. If you wish, you may check if the update has successfully been loaded by holding the CONFIG button while power cycling the DL16, again.

      9. Note, that the display will only show the firmware version while being connected via USB.
