    He everyone!

We are starting to livestream and we just got a M32R to run our broadcast feed. We also want to throw a Behringer X32 in the mix for a separate monitor board. We have a DL32 stage box to run all of our channels.

What would be the sequence for us to hook everything up properly and get the best result?

There are a couple of ways to do it. The way I think makes the most sense is to go DL32>Monitors>FOH>Livestream.  Monitor console is clock master, the other consoles slave off it.

      @mattrcraig

As Craig said there are a few ways to do this. A couple of considerations: Will you ever use preamps from the monitor board or always just the DL32 preamps? If you might sometimes use the monitor mixer preamps, the X32 then as the live feed board makes sense to me. Why waste any M32 mic pre's for the live feed when it will only mirror aes50? The other consideration is where the preamps of the DL32 are to be controlled from. The A port side of the DL controls preamps and its output assignments. So another possible scenario where the monitor position mixer controls preamps:

      M32 FOH A <>A X32 (as live feed) x32 sync A

      M32 FOH B<>A M32R B<>A DL32  (M32R as master. M32 FOH sync B)

Monitor M32R controls DL outputs and all preamp control. M32R mirrors its inputs via aes50 to FOH. FOH mirrors aes50 to X32 for live stream.

mattrcraig Craig, what side of the AES50 should I use for each connection?

      The only one that really matters is the A socket on the DL32. The rest are interchangeable. However for consistency in routing tables, I’d go;

      DL32(A)>Monitors(B)

      Monitors(A)>FOH(B)

      FOH(A)>Livestream(B)

      Ok, gotcha.

What if we wanted to run the monitors out of the B side of the DL32, though?

still use A side for the other boards.

Do you foresee a problem doing it that way?

Can anyone provide information on obtaining a replacement fader for the Midas M32 console?  I can find them on the internet, but those that I find appear to be the the correct fader (ProFader 100mm), but have the mounting studs and not the longer bracket with the screw holes at each end.  Apparently the motor has gone out on mine.  Tried reseating the connectors to no avail.

    Thanks,

    Richard.

Have you tried contacting Midas service on this? If you registered your M32 when you got it the Warrantee is extended but I am not sure for how long. May by they will send you a replacement so you can put it in yourself.

Yes, I did, if submitting an online case to the support counts.  I received the automated response from MT Care, but nothing further to date.  If I could determine proper part number and souce, I would be happy to purchase and replace it myself.

Is there a part number om it. I am pretty sure that Midas makes their own faders.

@KevinM32 Fader Mount (full view)M32 Fader Mount (full view)M32 Fader mount (note screw hole)M32 Fader mount (note screw hole)Well, yes and no.  That is the correct fader.  However, the mounting arrangement is not the same (at least on my M32.)  The fader shown (which I actually purchased earlier off the internet based on a salesperson assurance and internet reviews (which I guess I should go correct)) has the "M3 threaded pillar fixings on 120.0 mm (4.7") fixing centres" mounting arrangement.  The failed fader (which I have removed for documentation) has a longer top frame and two screw holes on each end.  I have attached two photos as examples.  I considered disassembling the orignal fader and putting the required frame on the replacment one (as shown by you), but determined that was not optimal as I was unsure I could successfully replace the plastic gear and decided against it.  I'm not going to "duct tape and bailing wire" a perfectly good mixer (yet.)

Hopefully someone from Midas will come along with the correct part, or my support ticket will provide the correct answer.  But thanks for trying.

Was looking for something else and noted a new firmware version for the DP48,

    New Features 1.3

    • 2 separate stereo reverb processors for separation between Mix A and B

    • Stereo mode for assigning and editing two channels of a Group at the same time (long press)

    • Reverb sends are now post-fader separately for Mix A/B

    • New idle screen with Group names and pre-fader metering overview

    • Quick Group renaming by selecting from a list of common names (long press on idle screen)

    • MIX A/MIX B ‘Meter Screen’ same as idle screen but showing A/B post-fader levels

    • Talkback function using the internal microphones in conjunction with HUB4

    • Talkback signal will be exchanged between all DP48 mixers and M32 consoles via CH48

    • Automatic configuration if Talkback is active:

o Add CH48 to assignment of Group 12 o Rename Group 12 to ‘Talkback’
o Activate ‘MIC +20dB’ in Setup

Configure Talkback in Setup, press and hold MIC button to speak

    Improvements

    • FX return default value set to -10 dB

    • ID and enumeration bugs in remote operation fixed

    • Master units update local preset copy when a X32 broadcast message is received

    • Remote function: group names are sent to remote unit

    • Group PAN had no effect when the group was assigned to a MIX as MY-Group

    • Work on local preset when the remote ID is master

    • Better AES50 error management and faster recovery

    • DP48 on HUB4 master port for remote control

    • Missing X32 messages improved

      Hey Gary @GaryHiggins

Yes this was released a few days ago. Lots of neat new features. The new idle screen means I no longer have to print off strips to label the groups for each band.

Hello @eastfrequencies , welcome to the community.

How are you trying the update the firmware? Are you doing it directly on the console? If so, the firmware file must be in the USB drive's root folder with no other firmware files present (although they can be in a second-level folder).

Since version 4.0, if you load from a usb stick (with the mixer already on) you can have more than 1 firmware file in the root directory. Lets you pick and choose and change from old to new and back again if you want without a lot of fanfare...I would suggest downloading the firmware file again, expand the file and make sure you copy the correct file (the dcp_corefs part). The X32 uses the same firmware file so you can also try that version, it will work. These mixers are resilient so try again, your current file could have become corrupt somehow.

    Hello all.

    Question about M32 Edit (Windows).

On the Sends tab of an input channel there is a 'power' symbol for each mix bus under the bus' name label.  By 'power' symbol I mean a blue circle with a vertical cross line at 12 o'clock.  The same symbol appears on the Sends tab of a mix bus once for each matrix bus.  What does this button do?

    Thx.  Dwayne A

It's an on/off switch just like you described. A quick way to mute that send. It's especially useful for busses that are set up to be SubGroups since there are no faders for these. It's like the bus assign buttons on an analog console.

    • DwayneAasberg

As above.  It can quickly assign\unassign a channel from a bus (or a bus from a matrix.)

It's especially useful for ensuring you don't send fx return channels back to the sends the created them, thus avoiding a feedback loop if you accidentally push faders up.  It's also good for ensuring that your click\cue tracks go only to IEM buses and not wedges.

    Hello all.

I am looking to set up my M32R in a specific way. I want my computer to be able to be heard from the USB card, I also have an external sampler (Akai MPC) that I want to go in the following two channels. I want to be able to send the audio of any incoming signal of the mixer via faders (stereo pair) to the Akai MPC for sampling without getting a feedback loop.

Can someone help me achieve this, please.

    Thanks.

Do I assume you mean that you want to send signals from the computer to the console via the USB card? Yes that is possible. Just assign the card banks of 8 to any of the Routing, home (Inputs) banks or the Aux In Remap.

I also have an external sampler (Akai MPC) that I want to go in the following two channels.

      Which following two channels?

I would suggest that you setup a mixbus stereo linked pair and send your desired channel signals to that mixbus pair. Setup a couple of the Aux In/Out jacks on the back of the console as inserts (on Routing, Aux Out screen), then insert those to the mixbus pair (mixbus fader, config screen). If you don't want parallel signals going to the Main LR, on each channel going to the mixbus pair, unselect the LR (on the Main screen) and change the send taps to post fader. Finally select the LR on the mixbus fader Main screen. That way the channel signals will go to the mixbus pair, out to the MPC, processed then returned to the insert point, then out to the Main LR.

    Hello, I just bought a MIDAS DL153.
The software version is DL1 G3.4.4rel-11.
I saw that there was a version G3.4.6 rel-9. Is this the last one? If yes how do I update the DL153 knowing that I have an M32R LIVE?

THE M32R LIVE is connected with a single RJ45 to the DL153. On the DL 153 I have the red led on (error) while the second RJ45 is not connected. Normal?

    Thank you

Hi @blanc I hope you are safe and well.

Firstly let me quickly explain: You cannot update any of the "blue" IO boxes directy from any of the M32 series consoles, the boxes are compatible but they are part of the PRO series series world (the big brother of the M32)

      Secondy the versions you mention:

G3.4.6rel-9 this is the most recent update

G3.4.4rel11 this is the previous version

Most PRO series users would simply connect their blue IO box to the console and update it all as a complete system but as some users are connecting via M32 or perhaps do not want to get the PRO console out and set up simply to update one box, the "IO updater" software was created to address this need.

To download it please go to this link:

I upgraded firmware on my two X32's. Compact works fine.  When I turn my X32 rack on now, I get "FPGA boot failed" and it goes into a loop of trying to power on. It will let me change firmware from a USB, but I get the same message with every version. Any thoughts?

      Hi Bill @Billbass75 ,

Have you tried installing 3.11 the old method (putting the firmware update file in the root of a USB stick, inserting the USB stick into the front slot, pressing and holding the USB button and powering up the X32 Rack)?

I've tried 3.12, 4.0, 4.1 and 4.02. I've tried it with multiple thumb drives as well. It will change the firmware and tell me it was complete, but then it fails at the FPGA boot every time.

      Hey Bill @Billbass75

Try this firmware (3.11) and make sure the update file is the only one in the USB root. The reason I suggest 3.11 is that I had to use it once when I installed a (pre 4.0) beta firmware that failed and this one worked for me.

Hello and thanks for reading.  We have a Midas M32 in a 400 seat auditorium feeding 3 Vue AS-12 speakers in an LCR hang and two Vue AS-115 powered subs.  I am using this downtime to map out all of the stage connections and found a puzzle.  The installers are not using the M/C out from the M32 to feed the center channel speaker, they ran the main left/right into a dbx DriveRack PA2 and have the "high" outputs highpassed to the left and right speakers, the subs are on the low pass side of the crossover, running in mono on the left output, and the "mid" frequency of the crossover has the same settings as the "high" with the left channel feeding the center channel.  They don't have any other processing turned on it the PA2.  I have 2 questions; would the subs be better in stereo?  And the big question, are we getting a "real" center channel out of this configuration?  It seems to me they just made another "left" channel.

Hello Terry, welcome to the community.

It may not make much difference to the subs but you could drive the subs and centre from a sum of the left and right channels. The DriveRack should be able to do that. Using the console's M/C output to drive the centre channel could involve a lot of adjustment to match the processing delay through the DriveRack.

Are these VUE Audiotechnik speakers. I searched and I can’t find VUE speakers of the models that you have posted. How old is the install? Are these powered speakers? You mention that the subs are powered. If not powered what power amps are installed for which speakers? If these are VUE Audiotechnik speakers the use of a DBX-PA2 seems like a mismatch.

How does the sound system sound? Is this setup as a true LCR system or is it a center cluster with 3 speakers covering the whole room. Or is it 3 speakers separated and hung to the left the center and the right in the front of the room? In a true LCR system each part of the system should cover the whole room. If it isn’t and you try to feed it as though it is a true LCR it will not sound good. I can go into a lot more detail on that if you need me to. Physically where are the subs? Do you have a picture of this setup that you can link to?

The fact that you are asking the questions that you are asking means that you are interested in how things work. But if everything is working and sounds good do you know enough to make changes that will improve the system? And if it doesn’t sound good do you know enough to make changes that will improve the system? Have you asked anyone at the church about the details of the system? Have you spoken to the installers or designer of the system to understand why it is setup the way that you think it is? Is there something that sounds wrong that you think needs to be fixed?

Your answers to these questions would be needed to properly give you an answer to your questions.
