I am using a a Xenyx 1202usb and am trying to use the borad for podcasting a for video game e-sports commentary. the problem I am having is being able to send game sound to the board itself but not out put it back to my computer so as no to cause an audio loop. I tryed to achieve this by using a mix minus setup and and control the channels individually by using the FX knob to control output from the board but still be able to the sound through headset micrphones connected directly to the board. I did indead achive the control I wanted but when I outputed the sound from the FX send port back to my computers input the recording sounded terrible! I sounded like all the sound coming into the computer was coming out of a tin can and all distorted. However when I try to output the board audio through the usb to the computer it all sound fine but loose the ability to control the game audio onthe board becasue i am not using the FX send port onthe borad.

I am at a total loss. I have been working on this for 3 day try to figure out how to get this to work and It just wont. Please help. I have scowered these forums and no one has answered this problem.

If you use Mix Station Pro for Android, two new updates were released in the last 24-hours.

    Changelog v1.1.1

    - Added MIDI support for MCU controller

    Changelog v1.1.0

    Added

    - Restricted use => multiple busses

    - Fully customizable channel strips

    Fixed

    - Show and USB player not working after reconnect

    - IDCA red line not always correctly shown

    Changed

    - Layer reset does account for selected channel count

    - Meter bridge does account for layer channel count

The non-Pro version of Mixing Station Wing is still on version 1.0.7.

If you are not sure how to use this app with your console. I've added a few instructions below.

Using Mixing Station Pro with WING

If you mix live sound with your WING console, I think this app is a must-have. It allows you to walk around the room and make adjustments on the console using your smartphone or a tablet. You can change anything on the channel strip, busses, DCAs, matrixes and the Main outs. This includes EQ, compression settings, gate settings are more. This is priceless to me. You can even reassign sources to destinations. All you need is a cheap wireless router that you can connect to your WING.

Setting up this app is easy.

    1. First, connect a CAT 5 cable between the router and the network jack on the WING.
    2. Next, select the SSID for your router on your mobile device. If you do not do this the app won’t be able to communicate with your console. Note: It will appear as ‘Connected, no internet.’
    3. Next, open the MIXING STATION app and touch ‘Connect.’
    4. The app should load in a few seconds. Once you connect you won’t have to do it again.

The documentation is good for this app. Check it out to learn much more.

A question, you mention in your post that show and usb were fixed, I must be missing something as I cannot find the USB player controls in the app at all.  Please advise.

      Thanks

Hello All.  I am in the process of trying to convert from an analog mixer to the Behringer X16 Air and I made it through all the technical hurdles; initial configruation, setup as access point, etc. However, my knowledge lacks when it comes to creating the scene for live vocals and a feed for A/V equipment.  Maybe on occasion run a keyboard, guitar and provide a feed for a box drum.  If I can get it close, it should help me tweek it the rest of the way.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Hello David, welcome to the community.

To get started, take a look at some of these videos. They should help you to setup the channels, FX and monitor mixes. I recommend using XAir Edit for initial setup as it gives a better view of the configuration.

If you run into problems, save your scene and attach the .scn file to your post (see Choose File button below) and we should be able to help.

    Hi,

Not sure if anyone can help at all. I've been trying to use FX Send and have been monitoring it using the FX to CTRL Button. It seems that you can't send anything out of FX Send without having an internal effect on it. Is that correct? I have a guitar on input one an have turned up the FX control for that channel but the only way I can get anything out of FX Send is by turning up the FX to Main Control. There doesn't appear to be an option for no effect with the control turned up. Even zero has a reverb effect. Maybe I'm doing somethging stupid? Apologies if so

    Keith

Hello Keith, welcome to the community.

The FX Send output is driven by a mix of the FX sends from the channels. This is the same signal that is sent to the internal FX processor.

The FX To Main control adjusts the amount of return signal from the internal FX processor that is added to the Main mix. The FX To Cntl button sends the output of the FX To Main control to the Control Room and Phones outputs as a Solo. The FX To Main control does not affect the signal at the FX Send output. What you hear when you press the FX To Cntl button is the Return not the Send.

Hi Folks...I have something odd happening with my X32 Rack setup with an S16. I normally plug directly in to the X32 Rack but this week past I tested out my S16 and encountered something strange.

I am running 4.02 FW on the X32 and am Running 2.4Fw on the S16. I am using a Klark Tecnik Grounded / Shielded Ethercon cable to conect the two.

I have NOT engaged the "Lock Out Stage Box" or the HA Trim Control buttons in the Global setup Tab.

My test setup is a Vocal Mic plugged in to the channel and carefully and evenly saying Check Check..(lol)

So...when I plug directly into the X32...on channels 1 to 8 and on 9 to 16...if I turn the Input gain completely off to the Left (-12db)...and speak into a mic..The Mixer/ Channel behaves as expected. There is no Input signal being shown on the channel strip meters and no output signal being sent to the LR Main output. Turning up the Input gain shows a gradual increase on the Channel Meter...and a volume increase from nothing to a normal level on the LR Mains / output speakers...just as expected. All Good.

But...when I connect the S16...I have green Light sync between the two devices...the S16 Configuration Knob turned completely over to the left ( Mode 1)...I get a different behaviour on the channel inputs. Channels 1-8 behave as normal....the X32 controls the input gain as expected and there is no problem. However...Channels 9-16....when the Input gain knob is turned completely to the Left (-12db)...there is still signal showing on the Channel meter and you can hear it thru the Mains. Turning up the Input gain increases the Output of the channel but it doesn't seem to be as sensitive or to get as loud as a mic pluged in to Channels 1-8.

Is there a way the Preamps Control in the Setups tab supposed to be set?

Is there a specific Routing/ Input and Output setup . I admit I still don't fully understand the Routing on the X32. I have always used the basic stock configuration of the local inputs and outputs on the back of the X32.

Is the S16 defective? Is it an internal setting that's causing this? Any help would be appreciated

Hello, you have aes50a 1-8 and 9-16 as the first 16 mixer input ch's I assume? Did you try adjusting the gain using the setup/preamps page (as opposed to the mixer gain knob) and see if the results are the same? It should do the same thing but I'm curious. It seems like maybe something hardware wise is defective. My S16 is currently not set up to check if that's also how mine operates, but I kind of doubt it.

Yes...aes50a 1-8 and 9-16 are set up as the first 16 channels on the mixer input channels. Yes....when adjusting the gain using the Setup/ Preamp pages the results are the same.

To summarize....the problem is that channels 9-16 on the S16 seem to be not shutting completely off when the input gain is adjusted...or  it's as if there is signal leaking in from somewhere else.

Update....with more testing it appears that Channel 16 has a TON of gain....way over and above the channels 9-15.

I'm getting worried...this sounds like the unit is fried...and it's out of warranty now...

We have an X32 board at our Church and have used it for 3-4 years. No serious problems. Every now and then I have noticed some noise on the bass player's channel. (8) He has an old bass with unshielded pickups and it right near the LED lighting, so I just assumed that was the problem.

The other night, I was at the church to record the pastors sermon. One mic, one channel. I just happened select the bass chanel becuase it is in the same position, different layer than the pastors mic. It wasn't in the mix and there wasn't anything plugged in, but there was a lot of high frequency noise showing on the EQ spectrograph. If solo'ed the is some high frequency clicking that sounds like some electronic communication. I ran across all the channels and the keyboard channel (10) is also doing it.

    We did some troubleshooting...

    Path... Keyboard-->Instrument cable-->DI-->XLR-->Oldschool Snake-->x32

Unplugged at each point. No change until we disconnected the snake from the X32. Bad Snake channel? Swapped with quiet channel. Noise doesn't follow where the snake is plugged in. It stays with the noisy channels 8 and 10. The noise does go away when nothing is plugged into that port.

Do we have a couple preamps that are going bad??

Picture of the noise. Channel 8 has more than channel 10.

Is the gain set the same on the quiet channel as the noisy one? An unterminated channel is likely to be noisy and the noise usually goes away when something is actually plugged into the snake. Do the same test with a dynamic mic (NON Phantom) plugged into the snake channels.

@KevinMaxwellThere are similar gains between the channels in question. The noise goes completely away when the channel is unplugged completely.

It sounds more like a bad route to the X32 if the noise goes away when the input is unplugged. If you plug a mic into a snake channel into a different input into the X32 and determine that it is quite into this other channel and then move that quite snake channel at the mixer into channel 8 and then to channel 10. Is it noisy or quite? I would also suggest that you bypass the channel EQ settings when doing these tests. How are you monitoring the noisy channels?

You could also attach a scene here and we can see if there is anything that looks funny.

Channels 8 and 11 are noisy no matter what is plugged into it. I have swapped quite feeds from the snake and it is still noisy. The noise doesn't follow the feed from the snake, but stays on the input. I am not by the board, but will look at the gain settings and load up a factory preset to see if that makes a difference. If it is still noisy, I can attach a scene.

I am monitoring the noisy channel by watching the eq jump around like crazy with no input, listening to it on headphones, or putting it out to the mains. Since the noise is to high, you can't really hear much except for what sounds like midi interference... steady pulsing digital clicking. Not a 30 cycle hum. Clicks are too fast to count, but noticable.

I thought of one more thing to try. Do you know how to change the Source in the channel configuration for each channel? Swap a good channel, put 1 as the source for 8 or 10 and see what happens when you do that. And put 8 as the source for channel 1. Just take note of your gain settings so in case it changes them you can get back to where you were before.

Keep in mind that if you do a factory reset it may make changes that you don’t want to happen or it may not make the changes that you think it will. I haven’t done a factory reset / initialize settings in a long time so I don’t remember what gets changed.

I purchased from B&H in NYC the Audio-Technica Two Person Podcasting Package which has the Behringer Xenyx q1002 USB mixer. All I want at this point is to be able to record a podcast with my wife.

Every piece of equipment is connected with the exception of the headphones! I attempted to record using Audacity software but the line on the screen is flat.

I really have no idea how to proceed. I am simply out of my element. I don't know the terminology at all. I took a while to figure out there was no on/off switch!

I would be thankful for any and all help just to be able to record a podcast with the equipment I have.

    Thanks

Thank you for your suggestions. However, I am not doing so well. Going through the checklist you sent I came to a problem with the diagram on the first page, Sound! Your example has Line In, USB Audio CODEC, ready.

Mine has, Microphone, USB Audio CODEC, default.

This seems to be the only major difference between your guide and my laptop.

I uninstalled Audacity and reinstalled with the mixer powered on just in case the laptop and mixer would plug and play. No difference. Is it possible that the numerous dials on the mixer are incorrect? Again I know nothing!

I do believe everything is connected correctly. At least I don't have any parts not connected20200516_124739.png

I would set the level controls on channels 1 & 2 to 0 (12 o'clock) and turn the channel preamp Gain controls down until the Clip LEDs just stop flashing with loud inputs. You may also want to turn the Comp controls down a bit. Raise the Main Mix fader to 0. I cannot see if the USB/2-Track To Main Mix button is pressed but it should not be when recording.

On my old x32 I had 'touch-sensitive faders' if I touched a fader it would select that particular channel.

Does the new Wing not have this feature?

i saw an option in the setup called 'Fader Select' but that does not do anything whether it's on or off so I'm not sure what that is for?

Fader select has to do with the main touchscreen knob.

Fader Select on = Touchscreen KNOB turning causes the selected ch fader movement.

Fader Select off = Touchscreen KNOB turning does not cause ch fader movement.

So does the Wing not have the facility of the touch fader to select channel then? is this not an option on this desk ?

    Hello!

Is there any way to setup the Mute Goups in the Wing like the M32/X32. I.E. mute group is engaged but i can still individually unmute items in the group if needed. Currently its setup like DCA mute.

My answer to someone else asking this question in another thread was -

A workaround would be to un-assign that channel for the mute group when you need it to be unmuted. Hold down the “MUTE GROUPS” button and also press the Mute master button for the mute group that is muting the keyboard. And then press the SELECT key for the Keyboard input and this will take it out of the Mute group.

Any clues here?  This has ruined our use for remote broadcasting...is it reconfigurable via PC for mono or stereo?
