    Hello!

Newbie to the community and newbie to sound engineering. I've recently started volunteering (since June '21) as my church's sound and video support person. We have an X32 rack with S16 connected. I recently updated the firmware on the X32 rack without any issue. We are now running 4.06.

Since that update, randomly our S16 doesn't always connect to the X32 when we start it up. Rebooting the S16 magically fixes the issue. I thought it might be a good idea to update the firmware on the S16 in the hopes that there may be some kind of incompatibility between the new X32 firmware and the old S16 firmware. I believe the S16 is running version 1.1. Side note... It would be super nice if Behringer published release notes for the S16 firmware but I couldn't find them anywhere, nor were any included in the zip package with the update executable. Would be handy to know what the updates to the firmware are. Anyway...

I understand how to do the firmware update and have attempted to do so. The problem I'm having is with my Windows 10 computer recognizing the S16 as a compatible USB device. When I plug it in, I get this pop-up from Windows...

did search the forum first before posting this discussion. I saw another discussion that suggested trying a computer with USB 2.0 ports. The computer I am on has one 2.0 port as well as 3.1 ports. I've tried them both and neither works.

I also saw a comment about disabling antivirus/firewall and I have yet to do that. I will, though I don't feel that is the issue here. But I am going to try to find another (older) computer that has only 2.0 ports and antivirus I can actually disable.

Anyone have any tips on getting my Windows 10 computer to recognize the S16 as a USB device so I can complete the firmware update? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

      Hi Fhell,

Thanks for being a TC Electronic customer!

Your Studio Konnekt 48 will work just fine in macOS Mojave.

If You, later on, would like to upgrade to macOS Catalina, the TC Near control panel and the mixer doesn't support 64bit, but You will still be able to use the inputs and outputs of the Studio Konnekt 48

All the best and stay safe from

      Hi Jon,

Visous Vibe and Helix Phaser are confirmed for the 1.2 update.

Spark Booster will be difficult as it is an analog pedal and we have no model of it. A clean Boost has been requested quite a lot, so i'll add your vote to it for the 1.3 update.

P.s. Pipeline has the ability to boost the output level by up to 9 dB and by assigning it to MASH or Expression pedal you can emulate a fine clean boost.. Modulation depth of the tremolo has be at zero % obviously, but if you wan tto use the trem on top, you can program MASH to turn depth to zero whil boosting the level ! ..

      Cheers,

      Mike

nice one. love this pedal. its a great idea. sounds good too. so when is 1,2. and i reckon an EQ boost toneprint would be super useful.

    Hello,

I just bought a "Plethora X5"  and want to connect this with the 4 cable method.

I have a Mesa Boogie Mark 5 35,  a Victory V4 Preamp pedal ‘The Kraken’ and a few pedals.

I like to have the Chorus, Delay and Reverb from the Plethora in the loop of the amp.

When I engage “The Kraken” on Gain 1 or Gain 2 …. and I switch the channels on my Mesa Boogie I have a huge change in sound …. The master, gain, Presence and EQ on the Mesa Boogie change the sound when “The Kraken” is engaged.

The intention is when the "The Kraken" Preamp pedal is engaged the pedal bypas he preamp of the Mesa Boogie.

Is it possible to check my connection and tell me how I must connect everything.

    See image for my connection.

Looking through the Kraken manual, this looks correct. The Kraken will bypass the Mesa preamp and the Plethora effects can be before or after the Kraken in either mode.

The Mesa controls interfere with the sound of the 2 extra channels of the "Kraken".
When the "Kraken" is engaged the pre-amp of the Mesa must be diconnected.

Victory Amps recommends connecting everything in this way

How can i use effects from the Plethora in front and in the loop of the 2 amps (Pre-amp and amp) ?

Using the Victory suggested method, you can only put the Plethora effects in the amp's loop after the preamps. Your first solution allows you to put the Plethora effects in front or in the loop.

It makes sense that the master, presence and EQ are still in play with the Kraken engaged as they are likely part of the power amp section. Gain should be preamp, but it would depend on the circuit itself.

If you plug your guitar directly into the FX return do those controls still affect the sound? If so, it's working as intended.
