    Hello,

I preparing to set up the X32 with S32, P-16D, and P-16M.  I have downloaded the X32 Edit app for Mac.  I am watching a Behringer webinar about the X32 and P-16M programming.  The X32 Edit app is different from the X32 app that is being used in the video, which is closer to the real X32 mixer, unlike the X32 Edit for Mac.  Is there a way to view the X32 Edit app the same as in the live mixer?

Those webinars are probably the ones Joe Sanborn and John DiNicola made for us back in 2013 (6 years ago). Much has changed since then, including the X32-Edit interface. Back then it was very similar to the console interface. When they released firmware 3.0 they changed to the new (current) interface which is significantly different, but just as capable in setting up whatever you need. I may have a copy of the older interface for the Mac at home (I normally use my PC). But it may be better for you to explain exactly what you want to do and we can help you do it with the newer interface.

I had the X32 Edit program working great on my mac, and suddenly a few weeks ago it would not launch.  Since then, no luck.  Any advice?

you could try to trash the "~Library⁩ ▸ ⁨Preferences⁩:com.Music-Group.X32-Edit.plist" file.

I would normally tell you to download a new copy, but they're not availble this week at behringer.com.

When my X32-Edit started getting flaky, I started using M32-Edit. It's got nicer colors and you can still get 3.2 (at least today). https://www.midasconsoles.com/Categories/Midas/Mixers/Digital/M32/p/P0B3I/Downloads#googtrans(en|en)

    Hi everybody.

    Current
Using electronic drum kit. Only L & R output so we pan hard L/R with low sounds one sire high sounds other.

    Goal
But drum processor does have midi out. Is there a way to separate each drum to discreet channel through midi at DL16 to M32.

If yes, how do I make that happen? Asking for three churches.

    Cheers.

I think you will find that the Midi outs on the Drums are control outputs. If you wanted to hit a drum and have it bring up or down a fader on the console then that might sort of work. But the Midi out is not a way to get the different drum sounds out of the drums to the mixer.

I see that there is a new Firmware out for the X/M32 series.  NICE!  My question pertains to why MIdas lists the dates of the updates for the boards and not the stage boxes?  I also have the DL32 and the Firmware for it is listed as 1.7, but NO date.  I remember updating a year or two ago and I'm thinking there is nothing new since then?  Just wish Midas would list a date along the side of the Download so I new if there was something new?

Is there anyway to check the Stagebox to see what Firmware it is running?

1.7 is the latest. I believe as part of the update, only while connected to your pc, the current firmware will display.

It would be nice if Midas would put the Firmware date next to the download so we would know.  Easy to check on the board, not so easy on the stagebox!

@MarkNorgrenI may have told you wrong-but there is an easier way. Holding the mute button in while powering up disables the fan with firmware 1.7...so if that doesn't happen it's not on 1.7...and yes, I agree a release date would be nice! Seems easy enough to add. Or some other easily accessible way to tell.

I remember updating when we moved to V3.0, so my guess is that was 1.7?  Just update the board to V4.02 and things went well!

Wow! This is gonna take a minute to digest.

User In and User Out are cool. Now I wanna rebuild my whole setup.

@Paul_Vannatto  It seems that Output 1-16, Ultranet, and Aux In are still the only way to add a Mixbus to any outputs. Does that mean we (potentially) have a triple staged output system? For example. Mixbus 1 > Output 12 > User Out 48> AES50-B 48 (and/or AES50-A 8)?

I suppose all this new power will lead to some serious thinking. How do we explain it to new users?

@DaveMorrison  - I've got a headache reading what you just wrote.   I wish I had the time to write a graphical routing tool that allowed scene editing and saving.   This new firmware is going to require a lot of pencil and paper sketches.  Fire up the scanner.

Saw some of this on Reddit a couple of weeks ago.

It looks like using the User IO we can move away from the blocks of 8 a bit, especially wrt inputs.  It looks like we can get source signals from anywhere outside the DSP using the UserIn tab, and not be restricted by the blocks of 8.  2 local preamps (not necessarily in the same block of 8, in fact not even next to each other) + 1 card in + another local preamp + 1 aux socket + 2 remote preamps + another card in, all in 1 block of input signals is now possible, without needing to burn other input blocks, or get creative with the AuxIn Remap, or re-assign channel sources.  Yay.  Also, the internal TB mic and ExtTB preamp are both available as separate sources; so no more burning a bus to get TB to a channel.  Then once we've "staged" the UserIn tab, we can apply those userIn blocks to the input tab.  Alternatively, if we're happy with the blocks of 8 as is, we can route inputs normally, ignoring the UserIn tab alltogether.

This makes a lot of my previous posts redundant.

Re outputs, it looks like we can just do the normal stage to block then assign block to output as per usual, however the UserOut tab can be used for things like passthrough without relying on blocks of 8, similar to input blocks, but can also be used to mix and match DSP signals staged in the out1-16\aux out\ultranet tabs in too, in pretty much any order, ie in the one block-of-8, you can get the signal from output5 in the out1-16 tab (eg bus5, post fader) appearing next to the signal from output15 on the ultranet tab (eg DirOut ch15, In\LC,) appearing next to a tap straight off a remote preamp from a stagebox connected to AES50A, then a signal from a cardin (eg a click track, no need to assign the click to a channel,) then the signal from a preamp from a stagebox connected to AES50B.

Basically we've almost hit routing nirvana (though IMO the app could use some workflow tweaks.)

When I saw that 4.0 (M32-Edit) was available, I had to look. Thankfully all the old ways seem to work. But the User In and User Out tab were mind numbing for a bit. I couldn't even understand the GUI for 10 or 15 minutes. It makes sense now.

Anyone know if there's a phone number to call or email address for warranty support at Behringer?
I submitted a warranty claim several days ago. I immediately got an email with a ticket number, but there's been no follow up. I tried to find some way to email them, but the only support option on the website is the same form I already filled out to initiate a warranty claim.

The email I got with the ticket number said I'd hear from them within 24 hours. It came from a "noreply" email address, so I can't just reply to that.

Once I heard from Behringer they took care of my issue quickly. They issued a RMA number and provided instructions for the return. The mixer was delivered to Behringer in Las Vegas on the 14th and I had my repaired mixer back in my hands on the 20th. There was a weekend in there, so that's like 4 business days total which is pretty remarkable.

The only thing I'd say they could have done better would have been a little communication. An email letting me know they'd received the item and another letting me know it was fixed and being shipped back would have been perfect.

But still. I'm pretty pleased with the service I received, once they got in touch.

I have been using my XR18 with both my Mac and my Ipad (running iOS 15) fine, but as of last update, my XAIR app is no longer working!

As soon as I want to set any channel parameter: gate, EQ, compressor... the app crashes.

I am using last XAIR version 1.6.1

I have been looking to see what to do, but seems that the app is very old.

Is there a newer app to control my great mixer?

      Hi There,

It's true that sometimes updates mess things around. I haven't needed to try any other Apps to control the XR18, but others may be able to help. I'm guessing it's the iOS that got the update. Have you tried rolling it back (Google how to)

But in the meantime... some more brush strokes may help the community with some tips.

Are you connecting both devices through the onboard access point (ie: wireless) or have you connected a router and have a hard wired connection to your laptop, and the iPad is wireless?

Does the App crash through both devices?

      Cheers, Luke

I'm having the same problem! Is there a Behringer moderator/gate keeper reading these posts? I was hoping to use my updated iOS 13.2 Generation 6 iPad to run my second XR18 and was dismayed to find out that it continually crashed when trying to access sub layers of the X Air app. I even tried using the Midas version of the software (hoping that it would be further updated) but no luck there either. I deleted and re-installed the app, updated the firmware, burnt incense, chanted, nothing worked.             Seriously, though...HELP!!!!

    Hi guys,

Can anyone help me with setting up an XR18 with Cubase Pro 10. There's absolutely nothing in the manual about configuring a DAW. Cubase isn't at all helpful, it's offering 18 outputs, when there are only 6 Aux outputs on the front of the unit.

I've currently set up all inputs & ouputs in Audio Connections. I've added a stereo audio track & dropped an audio file onto it, which is now playing. I'm looking in the X-Air Edit app meter window & can see audio registering in USB Returns 1&2, but no actual output registering on the main output. What's that all about? USB return??? I've tried routing USB Return 1&2 to 17&18, but still nothing coming out the main output. Does it all really have to be this hard??? I've never seen anything so complicated & quite frankly I'm getting a massive headache just trying to simply get Cubase to work with a USB audio interface. I've never had this much hassle with any other audio interface, why does the XR18 have to be this hard???

Sadly, this isn't all I need to do with the XR18 & I'm getting really put off from using this unit. Why make the XR18 compatible with DAW use but not provide any kind of resources or support to help people get it all set up???

Any help here is greatly appreciated.

      Hi Andrew @RooMcKeller ,

I think you have to figure in that the XR18 is not only an audio interface. It is an 18 channel digital mixer with the added capability of an 18 channel audio interface.

So from that point of view, everything that gets sent from your DAW is received by the XR18 as a possible input source. You can (and do) see the incoming signal in the meter section of the XR18.

So to get usb input to a channel, you first have to go to the routing section of the XR18 to route the incoming usb signal to a channel. USB1<—>CH1, USB2 <—>CH2, ... is the default routing. Then you have to select the channel receiving the USB signal and  open the input section. Here you can select mic or usb as a source. As long as mic is selected, the XR18 will get its signal from the physical inputs. When you select usb as a source, the signal in the channel comes from your DAW. Now you can mix all channels as regular.

So your DAW output has nothing to do with the XR18 physical outputs.

DAW output -> select which usb channel to send to.

XR18 routing -> which usb channel gets routed to which XR18 channel

XR18 channel input -> select usb or physical input

Use XR18 to mix as required.

I hope this helps a bit. The capabilities of this little box are enorm. But each capability adds to the complexity.

      Cheers

      Ulf

Please could you confirm the support of the Midas DL251 48/16 stagebox on the Behringer Wing console. Please confirm that full audio (@ 48K) is working with complete control of headamps and phantom power.

@MarkPayne Mark, I can't confirm 100% BUT I recall reading that all the S/SD/DL version boxes worked with WING but also those "blue" Midas boxes like the 251 that were capable of 48K will all work. I'm unsure if in the case of the DL251 you need to update the firmware or not. Some of the Midas stagebox models need the update to work at 48k. If they work with the M32 (the 251 does) they should also work with WING. I may have read this on the facebook WING forum, I don't remeber. You might look there for confirmation.

@BasicProNot that it SHOULD be the case but I wouldn't be surprised if both the firmware and the app release coincided with North American shipment arrivals (which is supposed to be late January) This will expand the amount of people who will have one by many fold. Mine is in that group so of course I'm hoping I'm right and thus won't have to wait long for the updates and improvements. That said, I have no inside info, just guessing.

      Hello Andi.... yes there is...

this same thing happened to me once, and I was quite in panic... (the reason was simple and stupid : after the update the console reboots by itself after you quit the updater (push the button "quit" and wait !!.!!). I was too busy and did not wait this reboot and after shut down  the console it never wanted to boot up again (same problem at yours !!)

fortunately we have a very responsif  "Midas-Support-Service" here in France and they  helped me to fix the thing within a couple of hours.

The thing to do - contact your support-service (distributor, importer, etc) - call them on the phone instead of sending mail or creating tickets...; they will provide you a bootable system called "MidasRecoverySystem.zip" (which goes on an USB-Stick and you boot from this stick) - than install a brandnew (or older system); re-boot the console and upgrade again to the latest Firmware....

if you can't find this particular USB-bootable-system at your retailer/repair/support-service, I can (maybe) provide you one of these.....; just let me know....

      Midas-Support wrote :

You will need a good quality USB stick containing a FAT32 (Windows) partition with at least 8 GB available. For safety, this should be a separate stick to that used during normal updates, and should be clearly marked.

Step 1 – Download the right zipped file for your console

Step 2 – Un-zip the file to the root of the USB stick, the un-zipped file that lives on the root of the USB stick will be called “MIDASRecoverySystem”

Step 3 – Insert the USB stick into a port on the failed board; ensure no other USB sticks are connected

Step 4 – Power on the console

Step 5 – Wait several minutes; the Updater application will display the current stage of the recovery process

Step 6 – In case of Pro3/6/9, if a licence file was successfully backed up, it will be restored to the console after the new image has been installed; if licence backup failed, the console will need relicensing

Step 7 – When prompted, by a green message saying it is now safe to shut down the console, perform a hard power down, remove the usb stick and start the console up.

Step 8 – Once the console has booted, the stick may be reinserted for restoring show files and presets libraries using the GUI's File Manager

Step 9 - Care should be taken to not leave the recovery stick in the console when rebooting, or the recovery process will be repeated

Step 10 - Log files will remain on USB stick and can be used to diagnose the original fault
PLEASE SEND THE LOG FILE THAT IS CREATED, TO OUR CARE DEPARTMENT TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE REASON

PLEASE SEND THE LOG FILE THAT IS CREATED, TO OUR CARE DEPARTMENT TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE REASON (in the “MIDASRecoverySystem” root = logfile”)

      Hi Zigson,

thank you much for your help. I recently got in touch with a midas man here in germany. He sent me a recovery file, that contained the folowing file:
      DL2G3.4.4rel-14.image
Therefore our PRO1 Console now thinks, she's a PRO2. In accordance she does not recognize her DSP within the network.

So now i am searching for DL1G3.4.4rel-14.image. Can You help?
      Thanks again, Andi

    Hi all,

I'm trying to cut frequencies above 80 Hz on the wing EQ on Matrix 1. The High cut goes down to 2k and not lower.
How can I get the High cut frequency down to 80 Hz?

On the X32 I can get the high cut as low as i want.

Actually there is no low or high cut on any of the buses (including matrixes), only low and high shelf. And you are correct - the high shelf only goes down to 2K - not sure why. I will ask.

Actually when going to the settings of the EQ you can switch the HIGH BAND MODE from SHV to PEQ or CUT, but still the 2kHz stays.

      Kind regards,

Thanks Willem. I keep forgetting to hit the gear icon.

I have been informed that they are working on this.
