Hey, anyone here know if the copilot app just will be for setting up sources and routing like discussed in the 'Complete Overview' Youtube from Behringer or if it -hopefully- will also be capable of controlling the whole mixer like with the M32 app. And will there be an accompanying Q-app, also like with the MX32 .  Actually just picked up an M32 with DL16 for only this reason. And already regretting buying a new M32 while the Wing with its processing capability exists. The moment they release the app(s) i'm swapping the M32 for a Wing but it really lacks on clear information on the app so perhaps someone here knows

      Hi @CalebHeath , @RobertDorn , @jlwall , @MarcusLinden

There are various apps in the works. Most of them are being tested and will be released when the developers and testers feel confident that they are ready for public release. No ETA at this point. This includes the official Co-Pilot, Mixing Station, and X/M32 to Wing converter (a scene to snapshot converter). I can give you an ETA for the converter (since I'm the developer). If all goes well it should be ready for early next week.

Please understand that we are in the same stage of development that we went through with the X32 back in 2012 when the hardware preceded the software tools. Patience is requested.

Hi Paul.  Let me know if you have interest in a beta tester.  We bought two and have one opened up at the shop, waiting for cases to send it out.

Most of my questions were in another thread.

So there will be future scene compatibility between X32 and X wing?  And setup configuration flowthrough as well?  That will be a biggest draw for clients entering wing usage from this platform.  Would be great to see that in "edit" software flowthrough as well.

Thank you for your time on this.

Anyone out here who could explain to me how the Stage Connet Works with just a normal XLR Cable with 32 Channels Bidirectional?

      Hi Thorben ( @ThorbenK13 ),

Welcome to the community.  I haven't seen any details but I suspect it works in a similar fashion to the way the cable companies are able to send digital channels down and also support cable modems on the same coax.  Digital data can be sent through the same wire (or in this case pair of wires) using multiple carrier frequencies. Since XLR cables aren't really digital communications cables, I suspect the distance will be limited somewhat.  The first I heard of it was on the Hub4.

EDIT: BTW, are you sure it's bidirectional?  The description seems a little vague.

What i heared although ist, that you don't need a Powersupply because they are sending Power over the Same XLR Cable. I can't believe that so many Informations and Power are able to go through a Standart XLR Cable. And then how would a break Out Box enable Phantom Power if there are condensator Mics in the Inputs? Any Ideas?

Hi, I wonder if anyone can tell me if the Wing can use all 24 faders for DAW control or just 8 like the X32. I've scoured the internet but all the info seems very vague. Could someone from Behringer clear this up?

I have 2 rooms that the Wing would be ideal for if it has full HUI - an amazing amount of features for the price!

    Thanks

Just had this response from Behringer

"The WING USB interface will provide three MIDI interfaces to the host PC, in order to emulate a MCU plus 2 Extenders for example. So yes, all 24 faders can be used for DAW control in addition to the Custom Controls and the big jog wheel.
The exact MIDI implementation is just being defined and will be implemented in the coming months."

      Excellent news!

I would like to know in detail what the Fader-resolution  will be (1024 steps or more?)...and wich motorfader will be installed in the Wing (Alps?)

Just seen a Behringer video which says the faders are not touch sensitive but 'motion' sensitive. Thats a massive disappointment. It reminds me of the horror that was 02r automation. I think that will rule this desk out for most of us in the post production world who use fader moves a lot.

      Gussss

Its nots disappointing in fact pressure-sensitive fader might actually be better than touch-sensitive faders- in effect whether it detects pressure or touch will make little difference in actual use (you probably wont be able to tell the difference) and it might actually be more reliable that a touch fader. Well have to try it out and see

I'd love to see an in depth review of the Wing as a control surface.

Certainly in my work I rely on resting a finger on top of a fader to overwrite automation as much as I do actually moving it. I'm not convinced motion sensitive faders which are what Behringer seem to suggest are on the Wing will be ok for that.

A very long time ago I used to use a Yamaha 02R to mix TV shows - that had motion/pressure sensitive faders and was a real pain for fast turn around TV mixing (although we didn't realise that until we upgraded to Avid desks with touch faders). Maybe the Wing has some super new fader tech that will work seamlessly - I hope so because it seems to have everything else I need.

If anyone has actually got the Wing and could comment on the fader automation it'd be much appreciated.

Wondering if its possible to utilize a Dugan automixer via adat with this mixer? Also if it is can the channel inserts be post fader in the ADAT mode?

Typical configuration would be 8 in 8 out via adat and the dugan would be inserted at the channel in the post fader mode.

I see that you have ADAT I/O on the Aes50 stage box but is it routeable to the channel inserts and can the send/return be post fader?

Chris, the Adat Outs on the S16 are just that, OUTPUTS, there isn't any Inputs!

As far as a Dugan goes its my understanding that Behringer are working on a software version as the Dugan copyright is now in the Public Domain!

      Good luck

Hello. I use a lot of virtual instruments in my computer (Kontakt 5, pianos, etc) I have test the X-32 rack with my USB connection. It's not very stable: rythm problem, some sounds don't play even with high buffer settings. Is the FireWire connection will be more stable and reliable with my setup ?

FlorianGerstenl Rythm problems shouldn't be affected by th X32.

Which program do you use as host? What's your audio, and your MIDI clock source?
      • April 2, 2015
    • RejeanDoyon
RejeanDoyon I use Cubase 6.5 with Windows 7 64 bit. It's X-32 internal clock internal clock. I have compare side by side with a RME fireface UFX (FireWire connection). When a lot of virtual instruments are use, the RME is very smooth an stable. On the X-32, some missing or delayed parts and some audio sparks.
      • April 2, 2015
    • RejeanDoyon
FlorianGerstenl Maybe you should change the ASIO buffer setting. It's possible that the standard setting of the X32 is much smaller. This leads to higher CPU load and the problems you described.
      • April 2, 2015
    • RejeanDoyon
RejeanDoyon Yes, i have try this. I have try all combinations. Standard asio settings with 1024 buffer is the most stable.

Some people (including me) have had trouble creating custom boot and lock screens. I had created a "bmp" with all the correct attributes:

    CustomBoot.bmp:
    - Must be named CustomBoot.bmp
    - Located at the root of the USB drive
    - Bitmap only (.bmp)
    - 8 bit indexed mode (not rgb)
    - Maximum size : 799 x 399 px
    - Minimum size : 10 x 10 px
    - Colours : 256 max (no particular color palette)
    - background color will be 1st colour in customboot.bmp palette
    - boot text color will be 2nd colour of the palette

    CustomLock.bmp:
    - Must be named CustomLock.bmp
    - Located at the root of the USB drive
    - Bitmap only (.bmp)
    - 8 bit indexed mode (not rgb)
    - Maximum size : 799 x 399 px
    - Minimum size : 10 x 10 px
    - Colours : use colour palette embedded of the attached image.
    - don't change the order of the colours
    - use dithering if you want a smooth image

I used Photoshop and save the files. No Joy. I then used the example files, made a small change and saved it in Photoshop. Still No Joy. I reached out on these forums and was recommend to use Irfanview. These are my conclusions.

I did a little research. The bmp file format (a microsoft invention) has many different versions. Our mixer (apparently) can't read all versions. Photoshop (at least my version) saves the file with a header the X32 refuses to open. I took my Photoshop edited files and opened them with Irfanview and them promptly saved them (no processing at all). My mixer is now happy to open both the CustomBoot And CustomLock files.

Conclusion: Save the files with Irfanview

    1. I just recently punched my X32 Compact, 1st thing I notice comes with firmware 3.12 out of the box, however, the Behringer support page only shows 3.11. Why is this?

    2. Is there a firmware revion sheet to show the changes and update features on 1 sheet. On the site, they only have on a single revision and main on the last

    3. My mix Android app Pro says it does not recognize the revision 3.12. however it does login to my x32 and it does work.

    a. You can't connect by using the connect button it does not see the mixer.

b If you search for the mixer in the app it does pick it up whereby you can click and connect to the x32

This is the only way for the XM32 Android app to connect.

I would suggest loading the 3.11 version firmware and trying. You can always load up 3.12 again at some later point. If it is a new version firmware not yet supported for some strange reason, when it becomes available, you can then easily reinstall it.

      1. Who knows what is going on anymore. The website is unbearably slow. It took me 10-15 minutes just to get to the downloads for the X32 to confirm that 3.11 actually is the most recent firmware available. A bit suspect to start shipping units with software that hasn't been made public yet if you ask me. There is AFIK no way to save 3.12 from the console before applying 3.11 if you would want to do that. Unless there are confirmed problems I would just stay on 3.12.

      2. There would normally be a release-note fopr each revision, but there is no general changelog available.

3a. Notofy the developer (dev-core.org) of MixingStation XM32 that there is a new release out. He is usually very quick to supply updates. That software often support new features in the console long before Behringer manage to produce an update for their own applications.

3b. Mixing-station normally keeps track of addres of the last console it was connected to and should provide that as a defaulty. By pushing the button "Console IP" you can specify the console address manually.

@PerHeldal @Virtue67- When I first got my X-Live card it had a similar issue. It had a firmware number that at that point didn't exist. I've also seen revision numbers in the info files that reflected firmware versions that were never released but were incorporated into a later version number. So, right, who knows what the issue is.  Also FWIW, (from a very reliable source) there will be a new firmware faily soon to allow the new 48 ch Midas DP48 to be used on both the X and M32 as well as some other new bells and whistles-maybe you have it...or its close relative.

      Hi Andre,

I just got the response back regarding firmware 3.12

"The fw 3.12 is used in production already, but is not yet on the web. It only fixes an incomplete update of the scribble strip lcd after scene recall on M32/M32R depending on the fader board firmware. It does not add any new features and is completely irrelevant to X32 series."

So you can either downgrade to 3.11 or use the latest update of Mixing Station which will work with 3.12.

Hello Audio Gentlemen! I'm trying to finish updating my X32 and Drivers for Win10. I successfully updated my firmware on the X32 console. It is now running Firmware 3.11.

I successfully updated my X-USB drivers to Version 4.59.

But I cannot get the XUSBAudioDfu to update from 0.10 to 0.11... And because of this, the ASIO driver isnt running. Short of setting my computer and console on fire, I have tried everything. So what's going on, and how can I fix this?? I have attached the error message that I keep getting.x32 update drivers error.jpg

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, and thank you for your time!

@DavidVelezI have never updated the usb firmware and am not sure you need to. I would uninstall the drivers and reinstall them and call it a day. I use the latest drivers for win10 without issues (and without firmware update) Perhaps I should update the firmware, not saying you shouldn't or can't-just saying I have not and do not have any issues of which I'm aware.

This is the first time that they've asked us to update the DFU (which I'm assuming is the USB firmware?) I was eager to update because I was having a problem with Sonarworks, which is now fixed, but my ASIO audio drivers would randomly go silent for literally no reason whatsoever. So it would be really nice is Behringer would get their poop together and code this update correctly. Does the almighty @Paul_Vannatto or @RexBeckett have any brilliant solutions? One guy using a UMC got it to work by installing the 4.59 drivers in c:\Program Files\(x86)\Behringer instead of c:\Program Files\Behringer      and of course I tried that and it didnt work, boo.

I don't have the appropriate hardware to check this out, David, but let us reach out to @JanDuwe .

Jan, this problem has been reported on X18, XR18 and X32 (X-USB). It appears that the process for updating the firmware on the USB interface, included in the V4.59 driver package, is failing for several users. Can you help us to understand how to troubleshoot and fix this, please?

There are other reports of apparently the same issue in this thread.

      JanDuwe

      Dear @RexBeckett and @DavidVelez
Thanks for bringing this up. We had received a similar question 4 weeks ago, already. We couldn't reproduce the issue on any of our test machines yet, even though technically very similar. Hence, we had involved the driver vendor, Thesycon, who are very competent and supportive. Having analyzed the two different error messages and log files, they suspected a timing issue on that specific system. We are at it and will inform you, once the root cause is identified. In the mean time you may consider just using another pc for updating the card, since it is a one-time process anyway.
Fyi, the new X-USB card firmware update was mainly done for improving consistency of WDM on various systems, for supporting non-ASIO media-player applications. It is no disadvantage using the previous card firmware for ASIO multi-track recording, however.

      Hope that helps,
      Jan

Well there seems to be a BIG bug or something with the new M32 fader speed! I loaded up 4.01 and went right to the config page/fast fader checkbox area to see if I could get my mixer fader speed back the way it was prior to updating to V4. I confirmed I wanted that 'fast fader' option and....it reboots and it did change BUT. It is WAY different than before. Now the faders "snap" in to place (kind of like it used to) but there is this very worrisome fader motor "after spin" sound (more than just sound) that occurs. (a digital mixer's version of grinding gears) I can tell you 100% this never existed before. I went right back to the (since 4.0) slower fader version and that sound (and whatever process this was) went away! Not ready for prime time I think!

      Hi @GaryHiggins

The big bug you mentionned is not a bug, fast faders have always induced this "afterspin" sound.
This is due to the faster speed of the faders, somehow overshooting the target position and fine tuning the end position for a short period of time. As this fine tuning also has the faster speed, it induces this little noise.

The FW 3.07 that had Fast Faders has the exact same speed, and the exact same little afterspin sound.

On the other hand, the sound of the fader sliding is way louder
If this little sound worries you, I suggest you stick to the slower fader speed

I hope this helped clarify the root of the sound

      Thanks for reaching out

@adam_nowak I NEVER had that sound before this firmware update, I have updated every firmware version along the way. Anyone who did and found it would have sent their mixer back for repair. I already went back to the slower speed (I can live with it no problem), I don't recall hearing about fader speed being an option in 3.07, I missed that.

EDIT f/u....I made some short videos of the 3 states of fader speed, 3.07, 4.01 stock and 4.01 with "fast faders" There is a big difference between 3.07 and 4.01/fast fader with regard to that afterspin noise-not there at all in 3.07

      Hi Gary
Thanks for the videos, its a good help

After a talk with the mastemind behind the x32 series, I got more insight to the problem.
At some point in production time, the model of the faders got changed, and they had way different motor/friction characteristics. This created two possible faderboard firmwares for the M32(R) series, as some had the old faderboards, some had the newer ones. This had to be corrected and handled on the fw side. At the time, everyone had fast faders still. But :
      The old faders had troubles with the newer faderboard fw, causing dropouts, and the fader was just stopping midway;
The new ones had also issues with the old faderboard fw, causing those noisy oscillation.

The solution was to slow down all the faderboards to have less troubles.

Now that everyone complained about the "forced" slow faders (it always kinda was, but a workaround existed), we decided to put back those old faderboard fw back. To him, this should have never been an option, at least not named like that (thus the "V1 faders" in fw 4.00).

I agree that this should be more precise, I think Midas will do some official statement soon.
I will do my best to try to minimize the issue.
Meanwhile I guess you should stick to slow faders indeed...

Hope this helped clarify the fadergate
      Best regards
