In short - could it be possible to get download links to any/all official/stable firmwares other than the 1.00 Build 35, and 1.30 Build 89?

I would like these for testing. It comes down to one thing - Redo option. The 1.3 firmware doesn't allow for a Redo option after a stop, both on double tap and on "STOP" switch (although it should, according to release notes). I have tested and retested this.

So, since I creativelly use stop quite often, the looper's possibilites become limited. Right now I'm using the 1.0, which allows for the redo, but it has other inconviniences, like not being able to delete a stopped loop by holding down the loop's button without the loop being played for a short amount of time before that. That takes away from the seamlesness of clearing out of phrases. Not to mention the effects upgrades, stability, etc. which the 1.3 firmware has. If I could get to a firmware version that has the "best of both worlds", it would be ideal for me.

Just to point out - I'm using the X4 as a standalone looper, so I don't need the MIDI capabilities.

    Cheers to all

Actually, it can't be done. We don't have any instances of the old versions.
But the latest (unofficial) version of 1.30 is build 91
I'll PM you a dropbox link. Really hope that helps

Hi, very interested in the Plethora X5.

    but a few questions..

    1. What does stereo mode mean or do?

for example. if i have a keyboard and split it, left is a moog bass, right is strings.

can I add one compressor on the bass side? Then a different compressor and a phasor on the strings? Then put the same reverb on all?

    2. Are there any plans to add an EQ or envelope filter? this would make this really useful for bass players.

    3. also will there be a rev 2 at some point that adds in a dedicated XLR DI function?

      On the stereo thing...

could I have an active bass plugged into one channel, and then a passive bass in the other and both have independent gains/ normalizing?

Or.. Could I share this pedal? meaning I have my board set up. And then the band's other player wants to use one effect for one song. Could they route their pedal board's effects loops into on of the channnels?

for example. i am running my Plethora. but  one section of a song requires a timed delay. Could say the bass play or keyboard player rout their effects loops into one side of  the Plethora and we could both run simultaneous instances of a delay. So that the two instruments actually have their echoes at the same time?

      Hi,

      1) no, you cannot apply indiviual FX pedals to the left or right channel only.  Dual mono mode is not supported and there is no parallel routing at this point either.

      2) Not at this point, but we are developing the firmware further and i'd be happy to pass your feature requests to our product management for consideration.
Next firmware will ad the Helix Phaser, Viscous Vibe and a Tuner...

      3) Cannt comment on this as i don't know ....

P.s. Plethora works great with synths and keys and input is quite robust for line level signals...

      best regards,

      Mike

I had concerns after reading numerous complaints about the DittoX4. Jason Brewer, a customer solutions specialist, told me the service issue had been corrected about a year ago and that customer service turnaround was now 24 hours. That was on Nov 15, 2019. I recieved my new DittoX4 on Nov 22 and had several issues with it locking up and becoming unresponsive...the very issues I first expressed concern over and I sent 4 subsequent emails to which I've recieved no reply. I keep getting an email to the effect of, "We haven't heard from you so we will consider the matter resolved and close the case". It's a no reply email, so how the F are you supposed to contact anyone for help? I've tried every possible way to contact support. Jason is AWOL. The online support survey garnered no response. Honestly, I've never felt so frustrated attempting to get ANY reply from a business that just took $232 of my hard earned money. At least one if not all of several things now seems obvious: TC support is absolutely abysmal and frankly dishonest, I somehow got an "old" new unit on Amazon, the DittoX4 is still problematic. Companys that do not provide one on one, live, verbal communication options with the customer are not interested in accurate, honest customer service. I doubt I will ever do business with TC ever again and am preparing to return my DittoX4 as defective. Bad form TC.

      Hi Steve.

Sorry to hear about your story.
Right now the only way to get in contact with support is through the collected Music Tribe support:
      https://www.tcelectronic.com/brand/tcelectronic/support#googtrans(en|en)

That's what you've already been through?
From what I hear they're having issues with their ticket-system and it seems you've experienced that yourself.. Tickets being closed without actually being solved etc.

I'll try to get my colleague Mike to reply to this message also. He knows more about the X4s than I do!

Thanks Lars I appreciate it. I'm having a terrible time with the X4, crashing, not playing loops until rebooted and general mayhem. I wanted to use it on a gig this weekend but if i do, I think I may be in trouble.

I bought one and I think its faulty. Playing thru the effects loop and it distorts when I strum. That can't be right can it? Anyone got any ideas?

Sounds like your FX loop might be too hot for the Afterglow.

Try plugging your guitar directly into the Afterglow, going straight to the front end of the amp, on a clean sound. If it stays clean even with hard strumming, it's the FX loop.

Check if your FX loop has a level setting (something like -10dBV / +4dBU), and if it does, use the lower one.

      Hope this helps.

So back it went. Money back but I am somewhat disappointed. The fella in the shop said these cheaper pedals can do that, ie distort. Well it's not fit for purpose is it then!

I was dealing with Pedro Rodrigues and after a lot of back and forth he acknowledged the issue and opened the ticket with R&D team. Issue is that if you edit any preset and save it in User Presets slot and save Ableton project, after re-opening that project preset loaded is usually last signature preset in the list. I have to manually select my user presets on each of the instances of both TC2290-DT and DVR250-DT every time I open Ableton project. http://rootylicious.com/TC_Delay_Issue_MacBookPro.mp4

This works fine in Logic X with AU units

I have no knowledge if anyone from R&D is working on this issue or not for 4 months now. Both of these units are on my desk but I don't use them anymore.

If this is not going to be fixed please I would like to send these back and money refunded.

It is going on for too long

So did you get a refund?

I was planning on buying em in the near future...

But now reading this i will not, seems like TC is not caring about their customers again, like some years ago up until now, people are so naive still buying their new gear.

Do they even want to have customers...

No I'm still hoping they will fix this issue as I really like the units and effects but as I primarily use Ableton they are pain in the ass to use as I have to manually select user preset on every instance in my project every time I open it

I do live in Ireland so I have 6 years of warranty by law anyway. I can always get my money back

But yeah customer service is **bleep**, as much as some of the people there try, there's no way that you can track if someone is working on the issue or not so you lose faith in them and feel deserted.

I work as a software developer so I know how ticketing and support should work. This is not support

No new updates or improvements for this unit?

Curious if it will stay like how it is or maybe some new features will be added?

    Hi,

I found the cabinet simulation on the Plethora x5 rather disapointing. I assume it is not based on impulse responses, am I correct? Today I tried my electric guitar -> overdrive pedal -> Plethora and then straight into my audio interface for recording. The cabinet simulation on the Plethora does sound better than the raw/direct guitar sound, but it is miles worse any cabinet simulation using impulse responses, e.g. the Two Notes Wall of Sound plug-in. At the current state, I basically found the cab sim on the Plethora unusable...

Would it possible to include an IR-loader in future firmware updates? Most players using IRs already have their preferred options from Celestion and other manufracturers, so please at least give us the hability to load them and get better direct sounds with the Plethora! I would happily use it, even if it took one of the five effect slots available. Besides that, other instruments could also benefit by using IR-based reverbs and even for adding body resonance to acoustic guitars... there are so many IR applications!

Thanks in advance for your comments and have a nice day,

    Alberto

I purchased this yesterday, followed the install instructions, and every time i try to install I see the below.

The install freezes and I am unable to progress - I can't click as I just keep getting the spinning wheel. I tried waiting, restarting, redownloading, and nothing has worked so far.

      Hi Alex,

Sorry to hear that! Please try switching to Windows Audio before launching the Finalizer App. After first launch You should be able to switch back to the ASIO driver ...

I am considering a scenario for how I would use the Plethora X5, but Im not sure it's feasible and am looking for the advice/counsel of anyone who knows the answer -

I have a Boss ES-8 switcher. In my audio path, I would have the X5 in one of the loops and have the MIDI change commands coming from the ES-8 to change boards. I have 4 different drive/distortion pedals and need the ES-8 to choose patches with each of them and in certain combinations with the sounds from the X5.

Is there any reason this wouldn't work?

Technically it should work, just bear in mind that as @TC-Mike said in another thread, the board change in the Plethora isn't immediate - it takes a couple of seconds to reload all the effects, during which time it mutes the outputs to avoid clicks. If instant patch change is important to you, that might be an issue.

CarlBigsby I didn't realize that. But can you change between any combination of the five chosen stompboxes via MIDI? Lets say that you have Plethora X5 pedalboard consisting of the following five pedals

      1. Harmonizer

      2. Mimic

      3. Delay

      4. Reverb

      5. Effect Loop

Let's say I need the following combinations in a song

      1. Just Effect Loop

      2. Mimiq and Effect Loop

      3. Harmonizer and Effect Loop

      4. Delay and Effect Loop

      5. Reverb and Effect Loop

      6. Delay, Reverb and Effect Loop

Can I then send program change messages over MIDI to select all these pedal combinations? Otherwise there will be a lot of tap dancing to change sounds when including external drives etc.

    Hello all,

Can I have a feature suggestion? Inside a "Board" (and of course NOT between boards) we could have the possibility to program the MASH switch to turn off/on several of the FX slots at the same time, working as a multi-effect pedalboard. Once the "Board" is loaded the pedal parameters are already initialized, so no lag in this operation and would give the ability to work also as a multi-effect board. What I mean is:

    Imagine "Board 1":

    FX Slot 1: FX Loop

    FX Slot 2: Chorus

    FX Slot 3: Delay

    FX Slot 4: Reverb

    FX Slot 5: Harmony

Once "Board 1" is loaded, we could have all, some or none FX slots "ON". Then we could programm MASH switch 1 to turn on Slot 1, Slot 3, Slot 4 and turn off Slot 2, Slot 5. Then Mash switch 2 for some other combination, etc. This would give Plethora X5 the ultimate flexibility I think...

    Many thanks for reading!

      Thamks for the feedback.

Filed it as a feature request and send to product managment for consideration.....

A a workaround you can use the Expression pedal mappings to crossfade between pairs of pedal with inverse mappings of FX level/ Mod Depth, so you can blend in rrealtime between eg different delay and Reverb combinations or anything really.. This has to be programmed in the Toneprint app (expression Pedal mappings tab for each pedal of the baord)

      Best regards,

      Mike
