I own an X32 Rack. I also own an Air XR16 that used to work fine with my Ipad 3 and now it doesen't. Extremely dissapointed with that. I remember X32 Mix stopped working sometime ago. Extremely dissappointed with that. The M32 Mix still works with ios 10.3.4. I NEED to know the compatibility of the X32 and ipads before I get locked out of a gig because of an update. Please help.

There have been numerous reports of problems with the iPad apps caused by recent changes to iOS. The updated apps, modified to work with recent iOS versions, may not suport older iOS versions. The version control in the App Store doesn't seem to work correctly. There have been some posts suggesting fixes but apparently they don't always work.

The most reliable fix is to switch to using Mixing Station for iOS. This does require an in-app purchase for each type of mixer but the cost is modest. Many of us have used Mixing Station on Android for several years with great success. The software is very well supported and gets frequent updates for user-requested features. The screen layouts can be customized to suit particular user requirements.

Thanks for the response. So basically, some "guy" is writing the software to successfully support Beheringer products and Behringer can't do it themselves???

Behringer hired this same "guy" to do the early version of The Behringer app. The Mixing Station app btw can control either XAir or X32. There is a bit of a learning curve but not that much. More importantly it is very stable, often updated, and user adjustable to your particular needs.

Thanks guys. I'll use the x32 while I can and find another company that backs it's products.

If you chose one on this list you would also be able to run it with Mixing Station.

Hi All, just updated Firmware to v.1.02 !

    > Nice, and good Improvements ....... YEAH

    > I think i am somehow missing out on the snapshot features, in the information PDF it says:

    • Pure JSON for all snapshot-parameters

What would that feature possibly be?

    > Plus a completely dumbo question: Where do i get the WING Copilot app?

    Thanks in advance .......

Has there been any thought put into a physical remote control surface for these consoles? Something that’s a bit more reliable then an iPad on WiFi?  I see the x-touch can be compatible however it is originally geared more towards the recording market. Something like the x touch but laid out more like the x32 surface for use with the remote software. Another option would be a full on surface with minimal I/O for those of us that use stageboxes and only need a few local courtesy inputs at FOH (BGM, talkback, etc.). Maybe even an output for a monitor or iPad integration instead of the little built in screen? Might open up the potential for use in other situations and make the truck pack a little lighter while still having the hands on tools some prefer.

    Thoughts?

    Hello all,

I'm about to jump in with M32C with DL32 stage box purchase and have a few questions:

I've done some youtube digging, lurking here and even RTFM and am still not sure about the following, and would love it if someone with real world experience chimed in.

Has anyone had experience with DAW controlled (Ableton in my case) mix scene recall mid-song (ex: vastly different vocal FX chain for one song section, or muting vox FX at song end for announces, etc.) without audio throughput issues at recall points, or any other issues?

Project has two configurations (w & w/o drummer) but most often has 18 ch inputs and either 8 or 10 returns for monitoring. I would rather not mess with splits and can send stem groups if FOH needs it, (esp if we have drums present). Else, entire band is line level. Botched mix relationships & FX are precisely why we're taking control in the first place. What venue variables should I allow for that allow us to retain FX chain control and mix relationship control (which is vastly different song to song)?

We're about to embark on a tour (w/o our own FOH) and I LOVE the idea of dialed IEM mixes, & handing a stereo pr to FOH - AND virtual soundchecking as a bonus!

    Thanks,

    Brent

      Hi Brent @BrentM101,

Welcome to the forum. To make these changes you want to use snippets, which are in essence micro-scenes. Scenes save and recall almost all of the M32 settings and snippets change specific settings only. Unfortunately the M32 snippet GUI is not very granular. But snippets can also be created using a text editor or Scene Parser. I can help you create the required snippets.

How have you been triggering the changes in the past - with Ableton, footpedal, midi?? Snippets can be triggered using midi or OSC (via ethernet).

Paul- Thanks so much for the reply and offer of help with scene snippets.

My last experience with something similar was using a Cakewalk firing MIDI CC to my Tascam DM-3200 (ancient dino-tech, I know) which would execute fader level changes or FX changes on a song's bridge, then back for last chorus, for example.

Current plan is to use Mainstage setlist opening Logic backtrack files with scripts and have mid-song scene/snippet changes fired over either MIDI or OSC. I have no experience implementing OSC in any context yet, but it sounds promising. Project's entire set is synched tracks, with video and DMX via MIDI, so there are many layers to it.

Has anyone had experience with scene/snppet changes mid-song and had any glitches with audio?

I have our X-TOUCH Compact connected via MIDI to our XAIR 16.  I have a few questions on setting it up for an operator that will only adjust volume, and for someone who would actually adjust more.  We have several mixer operators that have only a basic level of training and will only be adjusting sound levels.  We also have some that think they know what they are doing and generally end up breaking things.

    X-Air Edit Software:

    • Is there a way to create a "read only" or limit the USER to only see mixer controls and have an administrator password logon?
    • Is there a way to create a "monitor" only user that just shows the complete meters when logged in? As an alternative is there another piece of hardware that can just show meters?
    • Is there a way to add to the "User" view any meters?
    • Is there a way to add to the "User" view a "switch" that loads a certain snapshot

    X-TOUCH Compact:

    • Is there any way to make the top three rows of buttons "select" high / mid / low eq controls and then the knob can adjust those frequencies?
    • Is there a way to assign a button to load a "snapshot"
    • When I first turn on the X-Touch the master slider is set to the level of the mixer, but none of the channels are.  Neither is the state of the "mutes".  How can I get the current state of the mixer to be sent to the controller?

    V. 4.0 is similar to V. 3.12 ? And...newest versions only found in the "legacy view". Really funny!

Hi Paul, I am lucky not having software or firmware problems with my X32 Rack.

What I found out was, if the new X EDIT32 V.4.0 software release comes, user I/O routing is available!

V 4.0 has new routing capabilities but it can still be used in the same way as V 3.12.

As @Paul_Vannatto mentioned in another thread, this is not the first time they have downgraded the current version before releasing the new one.

Just now there is nothing. No current firmware and no legacy. The same for X/M-edit. How hard is it to manage a small archive of downloads? Why not simply keep all the old stuff in place unchanged until there is a new version? And keep all lecacy firmware/software available for download.

...maybe I putting too much confidence in the clowns who still after a year do not even understand how terrible this community-site is compared to what they had before

Hello Tam, welcome to the community.

Firmware V4.00 has many problems. V4.01 fixes some of them but is still flawed. V4.02 is expected shortly. I suggest you re-install V3.12 until it is available. Use this method: copy the firmware file, on its own, to the root folder of a USB stick. Connect this to the console and hold in the USB button while turning on the power switch.

You can download V3.12 firmware from the M32 downloads page  if you check the Show Legacy Versions option.

That is the X32 firmware. The M32 firmware is a bit different.

@DaveFletcher What exactly is the issue with the USB drive? It is working fine on my X32 Rack and the church's X32? Are you certain it isn't a routing issue?

A slip of the mind, Paul. Thanks for pointing that out. The M32 downloads page is here and also has V3.12 if you check the Show Legacy Versions option.

Robert, when you update the console firmware, it sets some of the global settings to default - including the sample rate. If your problem is with playing wav files from the USB, check the console sample rate matches that used for the recorded tracks.

Hi! Got my wing console on thursday and still learning it all.

I use ubuntu studio and the wing shows up fine!

With my focusrite I was able to route jack midi to it and out to my synths from its midi out

With the wing I am able to jack route to the wing on ubuntu but that's where the signal stops.

I couldnt find anything in the wing routing panel for midi. Someone mentioned that midi isnt fully implemented yet. Is patience the answer for now?

Anyone know if Midas will ever release some SD type stage boxes?  I have an SD16 and would love to have matching preamps to a DL32 for both my personal rig and church rig.
My SD16 tends to live at the drum kit for live events. Stage rearranging at church has just made things to where an SD box at the new drum kit location would be ideal instead of deploying analog snakes to pull inputs to the kit.

I don't have an answer but would buy 2 DL8's on the spot if they existed or the SD version (DD8?) for very similar reasons.

Have been a little confused at times by Midas variants of the x32 universe. Like why an M32 core and M air boxes but not an M32 rack?  I'd probably have at least 3 DLD16 if they existed.  Probably would have done that instead of picking up a DL32 for my portable rig. So much nicer than having to deal with a stage-side DL32 in rack and analog subsnakes.

The X32 Core do not excist anymore for about 2 years, there is only M32 Core. Also there is no M32 Producer version only a X32 Compact (M32R) variant with scribble strip. Have all to do with the pro versus other markets and what they will buy. Pro users are not common tablet mixers for example.

      • May 13, 2020
    • GeorgeDougherty
      GaryHiggins

@Vasco_RomijnActually there is no M32 "Core", it's called an M32C. Also the M32R is the same size as an X32 Producer (a Producer with scribble strips and Midas Pro preamps). The Compact is larger than a Producer or M32R and has no Midas counterpart. Also they made an MR18 which is only tablet. So I tend to agree about the marketing being a bit confusing as to why one product is made and not another. I do agree the focus is mainly the big $ Pro market though. Still IMO they would sell a bunch of M32 Racks if ever made and SD type stageboxes (MD?) with Midas preamps.
