On the XR18, is there any way to change the order of snapshots once they are save on the mixer?

      Hi @lsilverman11,

as snapshots are internally stored, as far as I recall, there is no way to access them to sort them.

so the way around is manual sorting.

      1. You could save all snapshots as scenes. Than load those scenes and overwrite the snapshots in the order you want them to be.

      2. You could recall snapshot 1, save it as the last one, recall the snapshot you want on 2 and store it as 2. Now recall the last snapshot and save it at the now unused spot. Repeat until you have the sequence you want.

With some thinking about it, I think this should be possible with some scripting and the command line tools that @KenMitchell or @Paul_Vannatto have provided. I am sure they can give you some additional advice.

      Best regards

      Ulf

    Hi all,

I'm considering upgrading from my XR18 to an X32-Rack for the AES50 expandability.  All my mixing takes place on the ipad, not on a laptop or via a console.  I'm curious to know how X32-mix compares to XAir on the iPad in terms of ease of use, configurability, flexibility, etc.  Am I going to be disappointed, frustrated, and/or overwhelmed?  The basic approach and capabliities of the two mixers are very similar, but are the user interface paradigms of their controlling ipad apps also similar?  Anyone made the switch (in either direction) and have experiences to relate?  Finally, is there some advantage to switching to using a laptop with mouse for the X32, i.e. does the iPad app lack functionality that the desktop versions has?

    Thanks,

    -Clint

@cpopetz I find X32-Mix to be harder to use myself, mostly these days from lack of use. At one time it really did NOT work well but I believe it has improved a lot in the last 1-2 years. It may well work fine for you. Many users, myself included, use Mixing Station which is not as pretty visually but works extremely well. It has been ported to use with iPads now so I would suggest getting it, there may be a free version too but I am not sure there. It is well worth the few bucks it costs anyway. I like X/M32-Edit the most and used to bring a laptop so I could refer to it at a minimum. I recently, in the last 6 months, found a used Microsoft Surface which will run X/M32-Edit so I now use it (it has a touch screen) in conjunction with my ipad running Mixing Station and (usually) leave the laptop at home.

      H Clint, I made the same move 2 years ago (from XR18 to X32 Rack + SD16).

I have never been into using any tablet as a main surface. I have one, and it is nice to walk the room, or adjust a monitor on stage, or whatever minor adjustment is needed.

I consider a tablet nice for mixing, but not for configuring. In X32 Edit you have literally every option availble, never more than 1 or 2 clicks away. And the scrollwheel of the mouse works very nice on many functions. Also I use banks a lot, to see only what is needed for the show at hand.

IMHO (as a soundguy) X32 Edit is the most versitile way to control the amazing X32.

For musicians on the other hand it is different. With my X32/SD16 set I provide 6 stereo InEar mixes, and all of them love to be in control of their own mix by various tablets or phones.

In my experience,X322-Mix is pretty good (I still use it when I'm in a hurry), but not everything is is implemented especially routing—it may depend on iOS version).  However, everything is controllable from the Rack. I also run Mixing station (highly recommended) which can do the routing correctly and is fully customizable. The free version on iOS is limited to demo mode.

I run a rack and there are also several forum members that prefer the rack to all the other X32s.

      Hi Anthonie

Per your last paragraph in the reply, can you explain how you get 6 stereo IEM mixes that are personalizable by the musicians on their phones? You do it with an X32 and SD16, so I'm just curious to know what the pathways and what buses you combine to get the stereo mixes.  Thanks in advance for clarifying this.

I currently have a five-piece band and an XR18.  Moving from wedges to IEMs, but want them to be stereo with full FX including reverb. The P16-m doesn't really do it

    Hello,

    I have X32 on F.O.H and X32 Rack + S32 on stage.

I would like to use USB Stick on X32 Rack to play show intro and outro. I can get 2-track USB Stick audio routed to channels but how can I route it to F.O.H thru AES50?

    Cheers,

Hi Kim, welcome to the community.

You need to stage the USB Player (Aux 7/8) direct outputs using the Output 1-16, Ultranet or Aux Output tabs - whichever is not fully occupied. For example:

      X32 Out Aux.PNG

Then include the staged block on the AES50 Output tab. For example:

      X32 AES.PNG

If you have upgraded the X32 to firmware V4.0, you can use the User Out crosspoint rather than needing to route an eight-channel block.

If you need more help, attach the scene file from your X32 Rack. See the Choose File button below.

I have some songs on a usb drive that I want to play between sets.  The files all play fine on the X32 but I can't reliably get it to play all the songs one after the other.  Sometimes it plays just one song and other times it plays them all.  Doesn't seem to matter whether the setting is in folder mode or not.  I did try creating a folder and putting the tracks I want to play into that folder but it plays the songs one after the other but hangs the console (X32 has to be rebooted to recover) after about 10 songs.  But if I place all the songs in the root directory sometimes it will play all the songs (so therefore there is no issue with a corrupted file) and sometimes it just stops after playing one song.

Am I missing something?  Does anyone have a definitive answer to how to reliably play all the songs on the USB drive?  This issue has been the subject of a thread elsewhere but there never was a solution posted.  I am hoping that someone can help me solve this issue.  Thanks.

      Hi Keith,

The X32 is quite picky about USB drives and formatting. Good quality (e.g. SanDisk) USB 2.0 drives upto 32GB are the most reliable in my experience. These are usually delivered with FAT32 format. If reformatting is necessary, a tool like the SmartDisk FAT32 Format Utility generally works better than the built-in tools in PCs and Macs.

Tracks in a folder are played in alphanumeric order which can sometimes cause strange results. I name tracks as: 01 Track Name, 02 Track Name, 03 Track Name, etc to enforce the required playing order.

Thanks for your reply Rex.  The drive is a Verbatum brand - certainly not el cheapo and as is the case with most USB drives is formatted FAT32.  I too renamed all the tracks using your naming strategy - 0x Track name.etc.  But none of this really addresses the inconsistent behaviour - sometimes all the tracks are played as intended, other times it will just play one track with seemingly no rhyme or reason.  I hope Behringer addresses this issue  sometime soon.  Very frustrating.

Strange behavior, that would be very frustrating! I have had no playback problems on my X32, XR12, MR12 and XR16 using SanDisk Cruzer Fit 32GB USB 2.0 . They always play the whole folder with no stops or missing tracks.

Another member who had playback problems found that he got better results using SanDisk Ultra Micro-SD cards with a USB card reader - but I haven't tried this myself.

      Hi Keith @kinetic

How many songs do you have in any given folder, including the root? If it is more than 200, that maybe the problem.

If you mean the control suface is locked, then hold the Home button for 5 seconds to unlock it. If you mean that nothing works (even remote access) even after a reboot, then it might be an initialization and/or firmware update.

Hello - i just got an X2442usb, mainly for live sound.  at one of the places we play frequently, i would like to put the mixer about 50 or 60 feet away from the stage so i am thinking about buying a good snake to keep things clean.  my concern is how to connect the monitors.  some snakes have xlr returns and some have trs returns.  the mixer has xlr outputs for the mains and also balanced trs outputs for the main mix that i could use for the monitors.  however, if i wanted to use a sub group or channel output for a monitor, those are unbalanced ts jacks so distance becomes a consideration.

any suggestions on how best to handle this???

    thanks!

      Hi Richard,

It isn't ideal to run unbalanced audio over long cables although it can work fine at line-level. The biggest risk is getting ground-loop noise (hum/buzz). If this is a problem, you could use line-level audio transformers to balance and isolate the outputs.

Something like Jensen GLX would be suitable.

New to the XR18 and wondering why/what results in Aux1&2 bus signals to be on the MAIN outputs.  I am setting up AUX1&2 for monitors noticed that channels sent to the Aux1&2 busses were also appearing on the MainLR outputs even when those (MAIN) faders were pulled down.  I don't see this happening on Aux 3,4,5 or 6 only Aux 1&2.  I think I'm overlooking a routing setting that may have been an artifact from a previous configuration.  Thank you in advance.

      Hello,

I don't know which program / app you are using. It sounds like the busses are configured to send to L/R. Check the output section of the busses. There should be a button LR. Check if it is active.

      Hi Matt ( @madd45 ),

Welcome to the community.  The best thing to do is to save a scene file using XAir Edit and post it here. Use Choose File in the lower left when replying.   With a scene file we can usually determine the problem quickly.

Looking at your scene in the edit program I see that you do have the stereo send enabled on the aux input labeled “Music”. Unselect that and it should fix that problem. The other thing I noticed is that input 16 labeled “Matt Keys” has the channel source set to USB 16 I don’t know if that is really what you want. Be sure to check that out.

Thank you Kevin.  I'm using XAir Edit 1.5 with an XAir18, could you give me a bit more guidence on where that is.  The Sends tab/screen shows me AUX taps (pre/post/etc) and levels but I don't see the routing control you noted.  My best.

If you are looking where to assign all available channels (48) to the DP48, that would be in the Routing, AES50 (A or B), since it uses the AES50 protocol. If you are looking where to assign these available channels to the DP48 groups (as well as name the groups), that would be found in the Library, AES50 screen. By the way it is 4.02 firmware (not 4.2).

    Hi guys

I am currently planning a new system involving the new Behringer Wing as the FoH mixer and a X32/M32 as the stage monitor mixer. Both being connected to a S32 Stagebox.

Now here is my question: Is that possible? I mean I have seen systems were a X32/M32 FoH mixer is connected to another X32/M32 which works as the monitor mixer but I am not sure if you can do that with the Wing. Or would I need another Wing as the monitor mixer.

I am very thankful for all answers

      Hi Martin @TES_Mahi ,

Welcome to the forum. Yes of course you can use a Wing as FOH and X32/M32 as monitor consoles in conjuction to any Midas or Behringer stageboxes. The AES50 in the Wing is identical to the X32/M32.

Would you routed it the same way like if it was pure X32/M32 system or are there special things to consider?

The routing on the X32/M32 (monitor) would be the same. But the Wing routing is very different from the X32/M32. For one thing, it doesn't have the "bank of 8" limitation.

Hi, guys, I'm actually looking into doing the same thing and I have a question while you guys are on the topic.

Is it possible for the x32 to see the local XLR inputs on the wing once they are connected?

My scenario is, I plan on using our x32 strictly to process and mix everything going to our p16's for monitoring. However, because of the size of my church's band and how many channels we use we'll need to somehow get signal from our wireless mics back to the x32 from the wing's local input. How would this be achieved?

Yes it is possible (welcome to the forum btw). You would simply assign the local XLR inputs to the respective AES50 (A, B or C - depending on which is used to connect to the X32) using the Routing AES50 screen. Then on the X32, you would assign that AES50 bank of 8 to one of the input banks.
