Just a note that the RTA is always stuck on whatever channel is currently displayed on the console, in the Mixing Station app [ currently 1.03(12) ]

I submitted it David, he said it was a firmware limitation, and there was nothing he can do about it right now.

    - This happens on both Android and IOS (Mixing Station) pro apps.

    - I also checked out the RTA Autogain feature, and right now that only works on the console, and not Mixing Station.  The app has it's own seperate "RTA Offset" knob for the RTA.

btw; Mixing Station Pro works really great on the iPad! The custom layers & layouts load up across different platforms really well!  Hope you add copy/paste on the app sometime soon!  I find that with custom layers and layouts, your app is much easier to use than the console itself.  I attached a "16 channel" layer and layout file* for fun.  You can unzip the .msz file, copy it to your google drive, then load the file from google drive directly from the app.  I setup the custom layers in it to always keep the DCAs availible as much as possible for speed.

    - ( * the mute buttons still need to be assigned in the layout.

    Nice Job David!

    Thanks!

Totally agree, tried to set it up so that we could adjust the room. RTA can't be set to the measure mic with Mixing Station while on the EQ of the MAIN on the Wing.

      Hopefully they'll change the firmware.

Hello, it sounds like your cable may be faulty and/or the rj45 is not seating properly. I would replace it with another known good piece, even a short section to test it. Beyond that, posting your scene may help if by chance there are any routing issues.

    Hallo you all,

i've got a new X-Touch (the big one) and have got some problems with te Solo buttons on the X-Touch Controler (with X32, X32 Rack and X32 Core) connectet to a Laptop.

i have selected in the monitor section "Solo Exclusive". Then pushing a Solo Button on the X-Touch shows the Solo button pressed in the X32-edit software. Pushing one or two other Solo buttons on the controler adds the channel Solo buttons in the software to the other one selectet before. I expect, that one Solo button would replace the others. Is there a bug in the X-Touch software or is the X-Touch damaged?

    Many thanks from Germany

Hello, In the monitor section of the X32, check off the "Exclusive" (last) checkbox. That allows just that particular ch to be solo'd.

    Hey Team,

So we updated to the v4 firmware last week which we're loving, but noticed a few issues.

Firstly, it reset my libraries and snippets. I did a backup of everything before I did the update, so I was able to restore them, HOWEVER, when I imported all my libraries, I only had 46 loaded, with the other 53 as blanks. I had spaces between some items so I could "block" content together to break it up a bit. When the 46 items imported, they renumbered themselves to have no gaps in between, but they also wiped the other 53 items, and I can now no longer save items to those 53 slots in the library. If I hit the utility button it shows the other 53 as greyed out and I can't select them at all. How can I get access to these 53 please? Also, it would be super helpful when saving a library item to "insert above" or "insert below" another item so I can re-order my list. For example, I have 6 singers mics all saved alphabetically. Say I want to add another singer whose name starts with "A", I want to be able to go "insert/save above" my singer whose name starts with "B" so it's quick and easy to find it next time. Especially since my spaces have gone.

The other issues we had was the static IP address reset itself to auto (quick easy fix), some of the icons didn't update relative to each other (e.g. we had the "crowd" icon which on channels swapped to the new singing icon but on the bus changed to another icon completely which I can't remember. Easy fix, but a bit odd).

Just a quick feature request as well. When recalling a library item, it would be good to be able to load the scribble strip colour seperate to all the other elements. We have colours on our mics and when we call the item it resets to the colour it was when we saved it. I would like to just be able to load the name and the icon if possible.

      Hi hbc

      Thanks for reaching out

Firmware upgrades do replace the internal memory, so it is unavoidable to have some data loss.
This will be somehow prevented from this FirmWare 4.00, by asking a user to do a console backup before updating the mixer.

Concerning libraries and importing presets, the FW 4.00 had problems when importing presets made prior to FW 2.12, this will be corrected in the next release. A temporary workaround would be to use X-Edit to transfer those presets to your mixer. You could also check the preset files using a basic text editor, they should start with "#4.0#". If it starts with a single "#", thats the cause of the problem... You can fix those files by adding the proper starting version number, but using X-Edit will be way faster.

Regarding the fact that you can no longer save in those slots, it's because you are scrolling the list using the LOAD encoder, this selects only the presets that can be loaded. Try scrolling using the SAVE encoder.
In this FW 4.00, there are many places where several encoders double the function of other ones. It was a bit of a shame to have useless encoders, and it can somehow save you if you have a faulty encoder.

For those "Insert preset" feature request, the tricky part would be to fit it in the user interface in an understandable way. For this task, I recommend using X-Edit again. This lets you manage the libraries with more flexibility, as its easier to use your computer screen than the builtin mixer screen.

The reseting IP adress is normal, as the mixer defaults to DHCP set to ON when doing a factory reset. So this is not a bug
Icons changed to fit the new design better, they are taken from the channel icons used on the new WING mixer.

It is possible to recall only the Name/Icon/Color part of a preset by using the recall scope on the left.
Select the header of the list to (de)select all elements, and check "Name/Icon". Unfortunately, there's no way yet of locking the colors, but we take note of your request

      Hope all this helped,
      Musically, Adam

Slightly disappointed that it doesn't appear to be able to mix any faders?....just set up stuff?...and with my iPad anyway, you can't use spaces, everything is run on for naming and tags etc. Of course we are talking a hot 10 minutes of investigation and use....at least I could connect! I could be missing whole pieces of the puzzle so early on.

EDIT: Tags naming allows spaces but not the source name. I guess I'm being impatient looks Iike this is only "phase 1" of several phases.

If you select CHANNELS on the left and CONNECT on the right you can at least control the faders one by one. And there is also a SOF button which seem to work.

    Hi All

Just received my Wing. I have strtaed to set it up, the simple and obvious appear to be all working and have already purchased a PC copy of Mixing Station. I am now trying to understand what is possible and the best way to achieve what I need.

I have limited experience/knowledge of digital (or analogue) mixers, Good PC, DAW and instrument knowledge.

My Use Case is a home studio (no live work). I record, guitars (elec and acoustic), base, drums (electronic), keyboards and I use Virtual Instruments and effects on a variety of DAWs (Reaper, Bitwig, Studio One) on a Windows 10 PC. I have two external effects units that I want to use, at times, for all input devices. I want to set up Wing to control my DAWs (and vice versa), create standard configs for recording each of my input devices and controlling sound output to studio monitor speakers & headphones for mixing and headphone mixes for musicians when recording.

I have found the useful Wing How To series from Behringer Knowledge Base.

I have a number of questions about the Wing that I cant find answers to on this forum:

    1) Is there a plan/date to make available a comprehensive PDF manual?
    2) Is there a way to get access to Wing beta firmware and access to a Wing firmware roadmap?
    3) Do users share Snapshots/Configs for common Use Cases?
    4) Is there a Lynda or Groove3 or similar Video training course planned?
    5) Is there a sleep mode for the Wing - a configurable time after last use the Wing goes into sleep mode or turns off (or at dims or screen saves the touch screen)?
    6) Is there a chance that 96Khz will eventual be supported? (For me quality is more important than channels)
    7) When/how will DAW integration/support be provided?
    8) Are there any 3rd party tools that can help with DAW integration like X32ReaperAutoMate (but for Wing)?

Sorry for the long message and many newbie questions...Maybe a sticky newbie FAQ would help.

    Thanks

    BB

    Hi

We use a Wing for FoH and use a matrix to feed our web-streaming with the FoH mix plus some additional crowd mics and media input.

I'd like to script mute and level on a few channels to be able to control the Wing from the computer where I handle the cameras for the web-streaming ( e.g. media sound on when runnig the intro, fade in FoH after that ).

Would it be possible to get a tech spec of the network protocol for remote control? Or if it is not public, can I register as a third-party developer somewhere to get access?

      Hi Marcus @MarcusLinden ,

Currently the only one outside the company that has this information is the Mixing Station developer (David). I have just requested a response as to when this protocol (and how to use it) will be made available to 3rd party developers other than David. I will let you know when I hear anything.

I'm confused about rather or not I can use outputs 13-16 as mix buses and still have FX1-4? Can anyone explain this to me? I’m not seeing why I have to use up 4 physical outputs on FX that aren’t really being used… Thanks in advance…

Hello Sam, welcome to the comminity.

I assume you are asking about X32/M32 consoles? Mixbuses 13-16 are hardwired as the FX Send buses for FX1-FX4 but can, alternatively, be used as normal Mixbuses. So if you are not using one or more of FX1-FX4 slots as send/return effects, you can use the associated Mixbus for other purposes. You could still use FX1-FX4 slots as inserted effects.

Note that Outputs 13-16 are not tied to Mixbuses 13-16 - or anything else for that matter. You can define which signal is routed through the Output 1-16 staging table on the Routing -> Out 1-16 tab. The physical XLR outputs are connected to the staged outputs on the Routing -> XLR tab - in blocks of four.

Thank you! That helps... If I use them as inserts, can they be inseted as reverb or delay or only things like eq and compression.

FX1-4 can be used as inserts, but beware that a channel with FX-insert is wet-only. That may not work as expected with all effects.

I'm really sory to hijack this thread but it's close to what I'm trying to accomplish/understand.

      I have an X32Rack + S16. Standard config. Outupts 1-8.

However, I have a band coming up that may need 7 monitor sends.

If I set the S16 to +8... I now have outputs 9-16. How does that affect the Bus13-16 used for FX inserts? Am I actually limited to 12 (or less) physical outputs?

      @Jon-PaulLeClair

The X32 has 16 Mixbuses. Four of them can be used as FX Send buses for send/return effects. If you use all four send/return FX slots, you still have 12 Mixbuses for monitor mixes. If you only use two send/return FX slots you can have 14 Mixbuses for monitor mixes - which would allow 7 stereo mixes. In some cases, it is possible to use the 6 Matrix buses to combine some of the Mixbuses for additional monitor mixes.

The connection between Mixbuses and physical outputs is set through the routing tables. With an X32 Rack and S16 stagebox, you can have 16 XLR outputs and 6 Aux outputs.

    Hi,

I'm a brand Wing user and happy so far. I searched the forum to see if there was an answer to this issue, but could not find one.

I use a USB Memory Stick for preshow music playback. It works great, but I've noticed that many of my tracks are peaking the Wing meters even though the original source WAV files never peak -- even thought they come very close to. The peaking occurs before the channel strip.

When I gain reduce the 16-bit originals -3dB the peaking goes away, but I'd rather not do this every time. Could someone please look into this?

So where is the usb player coming in to the Wing? Can't you use trim to reduce the input on whatever ch(s) it uses? Assuming these were recorded elsewhere?

Thanks for the prompt response Gary! Even when I reduce the gain on the input channel 9-10 dB, the meter still indicates clipping. As I said, the originals NEVER clip.

      Hi @rickschwar

I suppose You are using some kind of conversion software to achieve the 16 Bit/48 Khz format the WING needs. It would be best for peace of mind to trim down your music files to -1 db during the conversion process, so there would be no clipping displayed in the channel receiving the usb playback.

As far as i can say, i got clipping meter readouts with nearly every modern (i.e. since 2005 or so) pop song file. I think Paul Vannatto is right: there is no real clipping occuring, but there are intersample peaks (More than 3 samples at 0 DbFS in a row), that cause the Input meters to show clipping, which by the way is good in recognising peaks in live music, but as we all know since the "loudness wars", that´s the way many mastering engineers try to deliver "best" loudness...... You´ll get intersample clipping in every file from MP3 format anyway, due to technical reasons.

That said, i even like to go "red" with a Midas DL32 stagebox, a little crunch on snares or bass doesn´t sound wrong to me, there are great examples for clipping/pumping in some of the most revered drum tracks, like led zep or red hot .........

Hi, I am really new to using the X32, having moved to a school that is using two. Really happy with its performance, but having a little problem understanding configuring the outputs of various Matrices to the destinations I want. Have been playing around with the patching, please see .scn attached. There are three sets of L/R speaker pairs I want to send to: Front of House (happy to use the Main LR), then a pair of Backstage speakers, and a pair of Balcony speakers. The mixing console is situated on the balcony, so the physical XLR outputs 13/14 are being used to source the amp to the balcony speakers, looking to use Matrix 3/4. Otherwise, there is a S16 stage box on the stage which carries the signals to the FOH (AES50-A Outputs 7/8) and backstage speakers (AES50-A Outputs 5/6, to be controlled from Matrix 1/2). Can anyone help me with the configuration settings? Many thanks.

Hello Kelly, welcome to the community.

There are several ways to achieve this. I'll show you the simplest one in the attached scene. First we stage the required outputs on Routing -> Out 1-16:

      Routing, Out 1-16Routing, Out 1-16

Then we connect the local console XLR outputs to the staged ones:

      Routing, XLRRouting, XLR

Finally we route the staged outputs through AES50-A to the stagebox outputs:

      Routing, AES50Routing, AES50

As your requirement for other outputs grows, it may be necessary to use different routing techniques but this should work for now.

BTW: If you are running console firmware V4.01, I recommend that you update it to V4.02. V4.00 and 4.01 had a few bugs!
