I am not getting enough signal from a couple of microphones I am using as band area mics.   The microphones are SM58s that are plugged into a 16 channel snake, which are then ran into a DL32.  The DL32 then runs to two consoles over ethercon, a Midas M32 at the main mixing position, and a Behrenger x32 at the monitor position. We cannot seem to get enough signal, if I push the gain to full I'll maybe get some distant chattering.

Is there a way to increase the gain on the band area mics?

Also, is there a way to set phantom power on a DL32?  We have tried but the stagebox doesn't respond to the console.

The SM58s aren't fantasic to use as band area mics.  They're not as sensitive as you need them to be, and they have a cardioid pickup pattern.  They're great for a single vocalist, with their mouth 2" away from the mic, not so good at picking up sound from a large area.  You can add 60dB up to 60dB of gain, and then a further 18dB of digital trim, but I don't think it'll work very well.  You'd be better off with a different mic. Even a drum overhead would probably do a better job.

Re +48V, you've said that you're using 2 consoles.  Only one console can control the preamps on the DL32, so make sure you're using the correct console.  Setup>Preamps can be used even if those preamps don't apply to actual channels.

    Hi everybody,

I've updated my M32 to FW4.0, but my KT DN32 Card seems not to work properly: I can regularly see my M32 on my Dante Network and it seems to be ok, but when I patch Input Card on the desk kind of "glitches" appearing costantly..

Does anybody knows something about this?

I've already checked new FW on my KT site for DN32, but nothing new is appeared..

I had come back to FW 3.1.1 and everything is ok, so probably  I need to wait.

Thx a lot for your help

    Hello,

I followed the instructions given in the User Manual by the book, but unfortunately the Updater to 2.4 does not recognize my DL16. I have two of them, I tried both (yes, they are in the bootloader mode and yes I am running the console in Administrator mode. Doubeclick and confirming to give Administration privileges does not work as well). Current Firmware revision on both devices is 2.2. Windows recognizes a new USB device when I connect the DL16.

    Error message is C:\Users\User\Downloads>dl16update_2-4.exe
No DL16 found. Please restart DL16 in bootloader mode (press and hold CONFIG during power on).

    (Not very helpful...)

    How can I proceed?

    Kind regards

    Tobias

Hello! I am trying to update my M32R LIVE! But every time I do it is saying something about the firmware's legacy "integrity". how do I fix this?

Hello @eastfrequencies , welcome to the community.

How are you trying the update the firmware? Are you doing it directly on the console? If so, the firmware file must be in the USB drive's root folder with no other firmware files present (although they can be in a second-level folder).

Since version 4.0, if you load from a usb stick (with the mixer already on) you can have more than 1 firmware file in the root directory. Lets you pick and choose and change from old to new and back again if you want without a lot of fanfare...I would suggest downloading the firmware file again, expand the file and make sure you copy the correct file (the dcp_corefs part). The X32 uses the same firmware file so you can also try that version, it will work. These mixers are resilient so try again, your current file could have become corrupt somehow.

I would like to use my M32 for FOH and my X32 for monitors. I have an DL32 on the stage.

    Here is my question:

Can I send the signal from the DL32 AES50 to my M32 while at the same time using an analogue snake between the DL32 and the X32?

@fgrondon  Tell me more. What is the purpose of the analog snake? Why not a digital cable between the consoles and then the stage box connected to the monitor console?

Hi @fgrondon , welcome to the community.

Yes you could use an analogue splitter snake to tap the DL32 inputs for the X32. I would use a splitter with isolating transformers to avoid ground-loops and phantom power problems.

Is there a reason why you don't want to use AES50 to provide the DL32 inputs to both consoles?

My purpsoe is to be able to use the gain knob on both consoles. I heard that if I do it the way you are suggesting the gain would be set by the console that is connected to AES50 A on the DL32

So, I have the M32 for FOH and the X32 for mixing our live stream on youtube, and we have the DL32 on the stage.

How do I take the signal from the DL32 to feed both my consoles?

      Thanks!

    Hello all,

As you know the M32C has 2 1/4 out on the back labled "monitoring outoput" I would like to send a paif of mix buses out to these physical outs.

I'm having trouble understand if that is possible.  Please help if you can.

Solo the desired mixbus master strip

Im sorry, Paul you are correct in that by soloing the mix bus it in fact passes to the monitoring out.

I just simply want to route the output of mix bus 1&2 to the monitoring out with no use of solos. It's for an IEM mix. The other IEM mixes would come off the stage box.

For the the life of me , i find this box hard to use and I must say I am starting to think I might have purchased the wrong item.   I hope with some elbow grease I can turn this feeling around.

There's monitoring and there's monitoring.  There are the console's 16 buses you'd use for monitoring (eg for wedges or IEMs,) then there's the console's stereo solo bus you'd use for solo-ing a particular channel in your headphones\nearfield monitors.

The dedicated "monitor" sockets on the rear of the console are tied to the console's solo bus.  They'll only ever output whatever's in the console's solo bus, unless nothing is soloed, in which case they'll output whatever is set in Monitor>Monitor Source option of the console.

The other XLR\TRS sockets on the rear of the console can have any bus routed to them (including the solo bus.)

What you cannot do is route a (non-solo) bus to the dedicated monitor sockets (at least not without sacrificing the console's solo functionality.)

If you let us know what console and stageboxes you've got, as well as which signals you'd like to appear on which outputs, we can probably figure out how to route it for you.

@CraigFowler   thanks very much for your patient response.  Ill get back to you with some thing more after some rest, its been a good long 12hr day and im more that a little fried.

im really hoping I can feel good about this purchase, but right now im feeling really bummed out.
