Hi ! I've been using the XR18 for about a year now. I use the ethernet connection 99% of the time. It always loses connection but I never really mind and simply would reconnect when I needed to use X-Air Edit. Recently I had a problem with a microphone that used to work just fine. It's an Audio-Technica 2035. It acts really weird and noisy, making it unusable. I need to push the gain to the max and it gets so noisy and the sound is horrible. But what's weird is that it sometimes works for a couple seconds, and the sound is crisp and noiseless, and I don't need to push the gain. But then it gets noisy again. Like not noisy in a  analog, "my mic is broken kind of way", more like the noise is litterally *fading in*. So that was my FIRST PROBLEM. Now yesterday, as I was diagnosing it, something happened to the ethernet connection. I think I must have changed something in the LAN settings by accident or god knows what. But now my SECOND PROBLEM is that I no longer get any connection from the ethernet cable! It is my only way of working effectively and playing shows safely so I'm freaking out! I see the yellow light turned on and occasionally flashing on the ethernet port. And I've tried resetting the LAN card in my laptop. Nothing works! I've tried DHCP, DHCP Server, Static, with different IP adresses. I can't seem to get it right. Most of all, what's frustrating is that I came in with one problem and now I have another, more critical problem. I need an answer to this as soon as possible, please! Thanks in advance. Sammy

      Hi Sammy @samhalimi

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have a couple of cables (mic and ethernet) go bad. Try using new cables (yes these cables do go bad).

Hi Paul! Thanks for your quick reply. Really appreciated. I've tried another ethernet cable, and it didn't work. I did fiddle with my network proprieties and done stuff I don't actually understand. Hope I didn't mess it up. Any clues to reset the whole LAN settings and fix this?

    Hello all,

I have a question about the Behringer XR18. I have had it running pretty well under Windows 10 Pro for about a year now. After a recent Windows update I’ve developed some issues.

The XR18 shows up as installed correctly under device manager. I can use the X AIR Edit to make adjustments and see that audio is being picked up. I can record audio from mics with Reaper. And the standard stereo pairs show up for selections under audio devices.

The problem is that now I can no longer use Source Connect, Zoom, Zencastr, Skype, or any other conferencing tool. The XR18 ports no longer show up as an option within the various solutions but before they did.

One of the purposes for this XR18 is podcasting. This makes it impossible to bring on remote guests. I can use a second computer and route audio via some other interfaces I have but that’s getting a bit convoluted. Does anyone have any ideas that might get me back on track?

    Thanks for your time.

    EDIT 10/09/2019

It turns out there is an issue with the specific user account I use for studio work. I created a new account and everything works as expected. If I find the time to see what actually failed I’ll update. But for now, I’m going to get this system back in production.

    Thanks anyway.

I've dug around a bit for an answer to this and can't seem to find one, even if that answer is no, I just haven't really seen it out there.

I have the UMC 1820 and have a mic pre connected via ADAT to supply the additional 8 inputs. Everything works as expected, except that I can't figure out a way to directly monitor these inputs. I can monitor from the DAW output, but that comes with latency.

Is there a way to dirctly monitor the adat inputs?

Hi Phillip, welcome to the community.

The UMC1820 does not provide any direct monitoring of the digital (S/PDIF and ADAT) inputs. Direct monitoring is only supported for analogue inputs 1-8.

    Hi,

I am using Reaper and XR18 connected via USB to Win10 laptop. I have upgraded the XR18 to most recent firmware and have installed the most recent USB driver V4.49 (59?) YET almost everytime I start Reaper it gives me an error message about not being able to find find the audio device; its very frustrating. It sometimes takes hours to ge it to recognize the usb device (XR18 console) and when I click on the X-Air USB app it says "no device connected"... uninstall/reinstall ... disable all other Win10 audio devices ... reboot ... all of these in different combinations ... it is just not reliable in any way. Last night I had a great session then this morning turn it on and get my error message!!

    Can anyone please help?

    Thanks,
    Karma

      Hi @Karma180 ,

I don't think this has anything to do with Reaper but, instead, it's a USB device enumeration problem.  Do you have the XR18 plugged directly into the laptop or through a hub?  Hubs and docking stations have been known to cause this kind of problem.   Are you using the USB cable that came with the XR18?  Have you tried a different USB cable?

      Hope this helps,

      Ken

Thanks for the reply. Yes, USB directly from XR18 to laptop USB port. Same port (of 3 on the laptop; but I have tried them all when troubleshooting this issue), and I have tried different USB cables ... including the one that came with the XR18 ... : (

      Hi @Karma180 ,

Let's approach this from a different angle.  What's the brand and model of your laptop?  Have you checked the manufacturer's support site to see if they have newer chipset drivers for your laptop vs. what is shipped in Win10?  I've seen issues with both Dell and HP laptops at work when they have a newer Intel chipset but not the latest drivers.

      Hope this helps,

      Ken

OK, its a Dell Latitude e6500 and the chipset is good. ... the other two USB ports are functioning as normal ... one sends a midi signal to my guitar rig and the other is for a KMV. Even without those plugged in it still gives an error. The thing is, sometimes it will work 5 or 6 consecutive boots and then nothing for a couple of days.  Thansk for your attention to this issue of mine.

    Hi!

I bought an UCM404HD, works fine but when I connect a HDMI monitor (with hdmi-USBC HUB), the audio interface dissapear from audio devices, and only a pulse is heard from the speakers, the HDMI monitor is also disconnected.
I try to connect only the audio interface and the monitor and neither does it work. I have tried with many cables.
Before i had a Line6 UX1 and it worked fine with the HDMI monitor connected.

    thanks

      Having a similar issue here.

      windows 10.  u-phoria umc404hd.  BenQ SW2700 monitor.

Basically, the Behringer will "disappear" as an audio device, (red X on the speaker icon on the taskbar) and I see only BenQ and Realtek as audio devices.  I'm guessing the Behringer driver needs updating (?) or there's some kind of conflict between the 3 audio devices?

For now I went into the - Device Manager / Sound, video and game controllers - and disabled Intel(R) Display Audio and Realtek High Definition Audio (leaving only the Behringer UMC 404HD 192k enabled) to see if that makes any difference.  Will next check to see if there's an upate for the Behringer driver ...

Hi, the Behringer  webpage for this item advertises < Extensive MIDI implementation and user preset memories for instant program recalls>  however, I see no reference to user preset memories in the user manual. can someone shed some light on how to save and recall presets on the device please.

I recently bought a replacement USB dongle for for a clients ULM202 USB wireless mics. Problem is the mics arent syncing with the new dongle. The light on the USB stick stays on orange, but the green light for the channel doesnt not illuminate and I'm getting no signal on the mic. I went to the device manual and tried to troubleshoot it, but nothing worked.

From my understanding these dongles can be replaced. Is there something I'm missing? Any suggestions are appreciated.

I can't get the sound driver for my Uphoria 404 to share with two programs at once! It won't for example work with my Line6 PODFarm  guitar sim and Guitar Tonemaster.com site so I can jam along with their jam songs. Too if I have Lets say EZ drums2 open the guitar site or any other site such as youtube won't play any audio. Soon as I close the PODFarm or ezd2 They will play again! Any help greatly appreciated.

      Hi Ron ( @ron-e-g ),

This has been an ongoing issue for some time now.  Assuming you are on Windows since I've never had a problem on Mac?   This is caused by bitrate conflicts between the two programs.

I've had some success in Windows by doing the following to match the bitrate:

      1. Start with no programs running.

      2. Open the UMC Control Panel and go to the "Status" tab.

      3. Note the "Current Sample Rate".  This is reporting what the interface is currently set to.

      4. Open up Guitar Tonemaster.com and start to play a backing track.

      5. Make note of what the current sample rate is in the UMC control panel. It may have changed.

      6. In your DAW, create a project with the same sample rate and add your guitar sim to an instrument track.

      7. Both should work now.

YouTube is a little trickier since each file you play may have a different sample rate.  You either have to do the same steps above for each file or your can use another trick.  What I do is use a tool called Audio Hijack (Mac) to save the audio to a .WAV file and then I add that to my DAW project along with whatever plugin I want to use.  I'm sure there are similar programs for Windows to capture audio from another program.

      Hope this helps,

      Ken

I'm not sure we are tracking the same Ken. Thanks for your response. My problem here doe not involve any of my DAWs.  Stand alone  only.  I like to jam along to different jam songs without opening any of my DAWs.  I have two.

Interesting enough..This problem doe not exist with my stand alone Guitar Rig 5. But soon as I try to play through POD farm,  the  Guitar Tone.com site sound stops , and all I get is the perpetual circuling  arrow! Also If I try to open any other of my  stand alone audio programs like EZ drum, EZ keys , SampleTank or AmpliTube. It imidetaly stops audio in the playing track in the guitar tone site, or touTube site ,or what ever might be playing. I should mention here, I had problems..a lot when I upgraded to Win.10 back when. I thought they were resolved. So I don't know if this is a Windows thing or Behringer, or what. Once this event happens..I have to re-boot the CPU to get the player working again.

OK..Think I figured it out. I had to go to..Control Panel>Sound>line out 1-2 click on that then choose advanced Tab , and select from the drop-down list the same sample rate as the other programs seem to be using 24bit 44100Hz instead of 48000 Hz.  All playing well together again!

      Hi @ron-e-g ,

Glad to hear you got it working but... that will only work until some random SOB comes by and sets the bitrate back to 48000.  Just so you are aware.

Usually, the standalone versions of things like Guitar Rig are just .exe wrappers for the plugins so there's usually a place where you can change the birate for those as well. Similar to what I described when starting a new project in your DAW.

      Hope this helps,

      Ken

On the XR18 I would like to utilise all inputs 1-18 aswell as have my USB connected computer output too, but I can't find a way of doing this without losing an input channel and I'm not sure it is even possible?

My PC is connected using USB to the XR18. Inside In/Out > USB Returns, I route USB 1/2 to the Aux L/R stereo channel, since USB 1/2 I use as my default main output in Windows.

Inside the Aux input channel (17/18) "Channel" settings, I can either turn on USB for computer playback or turn it off for 17/18 line input, but it seems I cannot have both, is this correct?

Ideally I would like my PC audio to go straight to the main outputs without sacrificing a channel if possible, maybe I'm missing something obvious or is it a limitaiton?

Hi Mark, welcome to the community.

As you have discovered, the channel 17/18 input can be either the analogue Aux in or a USB return pair - but not both at the same time. The limit is 18 channels. You can route a USB Return pair directly to Main, Aux or Monitor outputs if that would help?

      Thanks Rex.

When you say route a USB return pair directly to Main Out, is that in In/Out > Main Out? This would seems to do a straight through from USB 1/2 to main out but turns off the rest of the mixer?

      @RaveyStabs

Yes that's correct but if you use Aux outputs (In/Out -> Aux Out), the main outputs would not be affected. The idea only helps if you can mix the extra two channels with the main outputs downstream - like at your monitors. Otherwise, you need a bigger mixer...

Ah, route it to a bus out then mix with main out afterwards you mean? Unfortunately I have all 6 bus outputs on other duties, so looking into a small submixer

      @RaveyStabs

So you are using all 18 inputs, all 8 outputs and you need two more inputs... You could route USB 17/18 to the Monitor bus and use the Phones output for downstream mixing with Main LR but I think you have reached the limit of what the XR18 can handle. I can recommend the X32 Rack. The extra flexibility of the X32 ecosystem solves many problems.

I've purchased an X-Touch and am in the process of researching the possibility of adding an X-Touch Extender for live mixing through an XR18 or M32C and have come accross some reports that it's not actually an extender, per say.  Is the X-Touch Extender REALLY not compatible with an X-Touch and X32core/M32c?  Has this been solved/resolved?

Seems wild that the "extender" wouldn't be recognized by the X-Touch when connected via USB and automattically configured it as an extension of itself, tabing through the channels 16 at a time instead of 8.

What's the real deal? Is this an old issue or something still true and current?

      Hi @SethUldall

It's still not compatible. I wish I had bought an extra  X-Touch instead of an extender for live use. There are kludges to use an extra intermediate device to "translate" the Extender's output.

Thank you Dave.  I really appreciate it.  I hope someone outbids my current bid for one on ebay.  I'm blown away that they market it the way they do.  Waaaay misleading.  "Extender", my rear end!  LOL

I'd much rather see it/them marketed as something without the letter X in it and perhaps numbered.. ie.Touch 1, Touch 2, Touch 3, etc.

      Very frustrating

To be fair, the X-Touch and Extenders are Mackie Control clones—Designed to control DAWs (and they do it well). The X-Touch got the XCTL upgrade (for X32 control), the Extender didn't. But the advertisements are misleadleading. Colored scribble strips imply X32 control is possible; MCU and HUI protocols can't have color.

Just been caught by the same misleading info.

Just wasted a day trying to get them both to work with X32/M32/MR18s.

Doesnt even work as the manual indicates when connected directly to the console on its own in Ethernet mode, although it gives the indication it is trying.

The Connection guide in both the X Touch and X Touch Extender handbooks indicate that they can be connected together with no mention that this cannot then be subsequently connected to a Console.

This is beyond misleading.........It is down right inaccurate!
