    Hello all.

    Question about M32 Edit (Windows).

On the Sends tab of an input channel there is a 'power' symbol for each mix bus under the bus' name label.  By 'power' symbol I mean a blue circle with a vertical cross line at 12 o'clock.  The same symbol appears on the Sends tab of a mix bus once for each matrix bus.  What does this button do?

    Thx.  Dwayne A

It's an on/off switch just like you described. A quick way to mute that send. It's especially useful for busses that are set up to be SubGroups since there are no faders for these. It's like the bus assign buttons on an analog console.

As above.  It can quickly assign\unassign a channel from a bus (or a bus from a matrix.)

It's especially useful for ensuring you don't send fx return channels back to the sends the created them, thus avoiding a feedback loop if you accidentally push faders up.  It's also good for ensuring that your click\cue tracks go only to IEM buses and not wedges.

Does anyone have an inside track on when we can expect MIDI and/or OSC implementation info from Behringer?  I used to perform a lot of external control over my X32 and I've really been missing that with the Wing.

      Hey Mike @MikeDrennan ,

They are working on it, but no ETA yet. Both Midi and OSC will be secondary protocols and the native protocol is very complex. It is going to be quite an undertaking requiring a lot of testing (already started).

      Mike,

      As Paul mentioned

If you are a programmer, you can already do (many) things using wapi [WING API], available at

Hello all, I am new here. I have been using the x32 for a few years. Love the board and software. Recently, we have begun to live stream so I split our board. I copied channels 1-16 to 17-32 so I could mix a separate feed for streaming. I wanted complete control from the gain down. Is it possible to adjust these separately? Can I implement the HA gain split without an external mixer? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Jamie, welcome to the community.

When you use an input on two or more channels, there can only be one setting for the preamp gain - shared by all the connected channels. If you enable the HA Gain Split option, the preamp gain must be set on the Setup -> Preamps tab but each channel has a separate +/- 18dB Trim control.

In practice there is really only one correct setting for a preamp gain. If this is set correctly, the channel faders and send controls should be sufficient to control all mixes.

    Hi All,

I suspect there are some folks here using XR or MR series mixers as a sub mixer, or with the need to only connect one display device reliably.

So FYI to whoever is interested: you can directly connect the XAir app on iPad via ethernet to XR12. The XR16 and XR18 should work the same way.  Here's how I do it:

I use apple's USB3 camera connection kit with lightning power, and the tried and true MC704LL/a Apple USB2 to Ethernet adapter.

The lightning power cord charges the ipad but does not power the Ethernet Adapter, so I need to use a USB2 Powered Hub with it's own power supply in between the Camera Connection Kit and the Ethernet adapter to get the Ethernet adapter powered properly.

So, it's a mess of cables and devices, but it works like a charm. You may consider getting an extension lightning cable to run to your iPad, so all the junk (adaptors, power supplies, USB Hub, etc.) can go into a neat little box or zipper bag sitting near the XR (or in a rack drawer if the XR is racked).

Here are Some additional notes on direct connection of iPad to XR:

My iPad Ethernet connection is set to "Manual" as follows:  IP Address 192.168.1.2; Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0; Router 192.168.1.1

In order to connect the iPad directly to XR without a router, you need to connect the iPad wirelessly via XR Access Point first, then flip the switch on the XR to Ethernet once connected by Access Point.  The XR will find the Ethenet connection automatically.  Once it does, you then switch to airplane mode on the iPad.

You will now be good to go for your gig/session without wi-fi flakiness.  I often leave my mixer on all week, and the connection is there waiting for me when I return.  Even if you use the home button to exit or switch apps, the connection will remain in place.

However, once you "hard close" the XR app on the iPad (or if it aborts), you will need to take the ipad out of airplane mode, and flip the switch on the XR to "Access Point" in order to connect to the XR again.

Also, the powered camera connection kit has a lightning connecter so you need a lightning equipped iPad for this setup to work.

    Hi everyone

I have a similar problem on my XR18 as this post back in 2015 https://community.musictribe.com/t5/Recording/XR18-Input-8-16-probably-broken-over-sensitive-distorting/td-p/231420

I have an Axe FX3 plugged in stereo linked on channels 3 & 4 and all of a sudden channel 4 is showing more about 15db more gain than channel 3? I didn't even remove the connections.

If I change to another stereo pair the gains are the same on the both channels.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

I have tried the hard reset with a paper clip, no luck there...

    Cheers, Paul

      @PaulJohnsson

If the difference in gains is showing on the input meters and the preamp gains are definitely linked, it would seem to be a hardware problem.

I suggest that you raise a Care ticket for Service Repair explaining your problem. This is done by clicking on Support at the top of the page and then clicking the Create a Care Ticket button. This is only possible if you have completed all the required fields in your profile. Make sure that you fill-in every required field on the Care form.

Hi.  This is my first of what will probably be many questions so thanks in advance for any help.  I've noticed that when I connect a keyboard directly to the aux in of the X32 Rack the level is fine with no adjustment needed, but when I use a DI and go into the mic preamps I need to adjust the gain to about +30 to get the same sound.  My guitar processors that have an XLR out don't require this adjustment.  Does anyone know what it is about the DI or the way the X32 sees it that causes this padding to occur?  Thanks again, John.

Welcome to the forum John. Check the DI that you don't have a pad button pressed.

Thanks for the quick response.  That was my thought too, but it isn't engaged and I even tried another DI.  Interestingly, I don't hear a fidelity difference between the two methods, but with previous mixers it was huge.

      Hi

I would like to clarify a few things about DI's.

They come in 2 forms (most commonly) a passive version or an active. The active ones are recognizable by the need of power in order for them to work. Or a battery or through phantom power (+48V from a desk or other powersupply). The passive ones do not need phantom power. Passive DI's always reduce the output power because of the internal electronic system (transformers). Mostly anything between -15 and -30 dB. The active ones can maintain the input power level.

But DI's don't change levels from line to mic or instrument to mic as a standard way of working. It's a consequence of the built of the DI. They do change the impedance from Hi Z to Lo Z (that's what they were initialy built for). Most active DI's deliver a perfect instrument level around -30 dBu up to +8 dBu (e.g. BSS AR133). DI's can perfectly handle line levels as input and feed them through as line level output. That said, DI's are mostly used to change overloading input power into more acceptable input levels for pre amps and for balancing an unbalanced signal for further transport (more then 10 m or 30 feet). That's why most of them have PAD-buttons to even lower the input power when needed.

So @JohnWatkins Do you have a passive DI? Than 30 dB is as Paul said perfectly common. Do you also use XLR cable from DI to desk? Maybe this could have a broken signal line (hot or cold) in which case you will loose 6 dB more.I suppose your guitar processor's XLR is probably an active DI-o/p

Friends. I conducted serious negotiations on my issues with Berenger - and two months ago I managed to get a new firmware for the controller from them. - X-TOUCH Firmware Release 1.19 !!! THERE appeared coordinately NEW parameters ... But I’m not a programmer - then I will lower how to use these New functions ... I will post you a new firmware and ask that those people who will be able to understand programming for themselves - posted here Detailed instructions - how to program with these New Features ..

I personally would not download your firmware file at all. Only versions which are released officially by Behringer will be used by me. Even if your version is no virus, malware or similar it would be too dangerous for me because itcomes froma unknown and therefor unsecure source.

i hope that some representative of Behringer or this forum will react on your post in a suitable way.

Again, I do not suppose that you are not a honest person. But I will wait until Behringer will release a new firmware version officially. I am responsible for my health and the health of my computers. So as I proceed with physical distancing to avoid Covid viruses I do the same with unknown sources like your zip to avoid harm of my computers. A strategy which was successful for me over the last 30 years or so. What others do is nothing I can control. So, thats the end of this story for me.

Are you connecting the iPad output to the mixer 2-Track inputs through a splitter cable like this? The 2-Track input may not be the best for this as it has no gain control and cannot be added to the Main mix if you want to record through USB. It may be better to use one of the stereo channels with this type of splitter cable.

What type of headphones are you using to listen to the mixer? If they have a four-pole TRRS plug you will need to use an adapter like this one between the headphones and the 3.5mm/6.35mm TRS adapter.

On my X32 Rack I never cared much for the headphone output, but now I need it. I need to monitor several of the monitor outputs. However I don't know how to select the source. Monitor Source gives me this options:
    - Off
    - LR Bus
    - LR + M/C
    - LR PFL
    - LR AFL
    - Aux 5/6
    - Aux 7/8
How can I hear the output of my mixbusses in my headphones?
    Appreciate any help!

Those settings are for what appears at the monitor sockets when you haven't got anything soloed.  To hear your monitor mixes, solo them.

Hi! I am curious what the status is of a bus only mixing app for musicians to mix their in ear monitors on stage (such as the M32-Q or MX-Q app). I'm using this console at a church where all musicians have wireless packs and I have to manually control their bus mixes each week. I know Mixing Station is available and works fantastically for me as the engineer. Anyone have any insight on the timeline of an app for the WING?

Mixing Station is available for the Wing and does have restrictive modes (select on first screen) that are designed specifically for mixing monitor mixes.

But that would still require each musician to purchase to unlock the features for the WING right? It's just difficult to ask people to do that when there are different band members rotating every week.

Last time I purchased a copy of Mixing Station Pro for my android tablet, the cost was something like $5.85 US. Are you saying that is too costly?

Asbolutely not. And I would personally pay for it 20 times if I could, but with all of our band members it's hard to ask people on a sunday morning when we're rehearsing to download this app, pay $6 through an in app purchase (and ensuring they know the right mixer to select), restrict access to their specific bus, and then mix their ears.

I know with the X32/M32 there was a waiting period for a dedicated app for musicians to mix their ears, so I was simply asking what the timeline is for that app to release or if it's even being developed.
