I currently have one XR18, which is connected via a network cable into a small network hub that connects to my PC and a few other things.

I use Windows, here are my settings (everything on static IP):

    xr18.pngxr182.png

The most annoying thing about the mixer is:

    1. More often than not, the software gets stuck in a connection loop, with the connect dialog popping up lots of times (see below), which I have to either OK or cancel every instance away
    2. It always asks me if I want to connect (of course I want to connect to my one mixer!).
    3. It always asks me how to sync. I would alway like to take the mixer settings back (or just cancel/leave), so a "Don't ask me again" would be so useful just to always do this.

I understand 2 & 3 are for multiple instances of the mixer, but most people will just be using one, so does startup need to be so intrusive and annoying? i.e. sync could be a button somewhere and connect could connect to the last mixer and also have a button somewhere for connecting to another instance if thats needed.

If these 3 things were fixed, it would make the mixer so much more enjoyable to use instead of having to go through this daily.

Curious why you chose the 10.58.1.1 static ip.

It's just another range for a small network in a room and 10.58.X.X is a pretty common numbering alternative. I don't use DHCP because I want the IPs to be fixed, e.g. a Marantz recorder also connected to the hub can be accessed via browser using its IP to download recordings.

I really feel the need to chime in too...

As far as your #2 and #3 concerns go; it's not really for multiple instances of consoles, rather for those cases where you either need to pull a currently loaded active scene from the console or not.  Maybe you forgot to save the last show on the unit to an external drive, using those options - you can do that. (I love google drive myself - easier than managing thumbdrives).

As far as your #1 goes; how about you try setting a static IP range on the console in the same range as the your main network router, and see how that goes?  There are so many different subnets going on in there? Hint: "simplify" first... Then when it works reliably, you can test fancier stuff.

Set the sonsole switch to static

Assuming your main IP router is 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0

Xr18 IP: 192.168.1.xxx (open IP address)

I am thinking of buying a Behringer B-5 condenser microphone. I would then like to output the microphone to a Canon VIXIA HF R800 HD Digital Camcorder which has a microphone input jack. I already own a Behringer XENYX 302USB mixer. Given that I can plug the microphone into the mixer, my question is this: how will I send the output to the camcorder? My first thought is to plug a 3.5 mm audio cable into the headphone jack on the mixer and the other end into the microphone input of the camcorder. Before I buy the equipment, I would like to know if what I want to do is possible with this mixer. And will the audio quality of the video I record be good?

    Hi

In my DAW I would like to create a send/return with a physical effects unit (a reverb) connected to the XR18.

The output of the effects unit is connected to input channels 15/16 on the mixer (return).
The input of the effects unit is connected to aux bus outputs 3/4 on the mixer (send).

In X AIR edit I can send a bit of a channel's signal to bus 3/4 and get a return from the effect unit, so it works fine there.

However, in the DAW, where I mute all XR Edits inputs and route them in directly into here from the USB 1-18, I cannot figure out how to send a signal directly to aux bus 3/4.

Is this possible? For example, can I assign one of the USB "virtual" outputs (1 to 18) to go to bus 3/4? If so, I cannot seem to figure out how to do this from the USB sends or returns pages in XR Edit?

thank you, i received the code by email.

just to mention that i also received this notification from Behringer: "Please be aware that we are no longer providing redemption codes for Waveform OEM with our USB compatible devices. As a good will gesture we will provide one on this occasions but please be aware that any future devices you purchase will not have a redemption code provided upon registration."

I have seen a few posts suggesting that the UMC drivers do not work with recent versions of Windows 10. I have a fairly new laptop, not normally used for audio, so I decided to see what happened when installing the current drivers.

The PC is a Dell XPS13 (Intel Core i7 8th Gen) running Windows 10 Pro 10.0.18362 (1903). I downloaded the UMC Driver V4.59, un-zipped it and executed the setup file. I accepted all defaults but skipped the hardware connection at the end. I connected a UMC 404HD using the supplied USB cable and a USB-C to USB-A 2.0 adapter cable. The interface was recognized and appeared in Windows Device Manager, Sound, video and game controllers as Behringer UMC 404HD 192kHz. It also appeared in Windows Sound Recording and Playback devices. I verified recording and playback of all channels through ASIO and WASAPI using Reaper (x64).

Just to see whether it mattered, I updated Windows to 10.0.18363.720 (1909). I retested recording and playback through ASIO and WASAPI and it all still worked. I noticed that Reaper (x64) was automatically added to the Privacy -> Microphone list of permitted applications.

I disconnected and reconnected the UMC 404HD a few times without any problems. I also tested with a USB-C to USB-B cable which also worked correctly.

While Reaper (and probably many other DAW packages) can select all the inputs on the UMC 404HD, the same is not the case with Windows built-in sound control. Windows 10 1909 treats the UMC inputs as mono and uses only the left side of each pair. Applications that depend on Windows sound control (e.g. Audacity) are affected by this so a stereo recording will have the left input on both sides. This does not happen on Windows 10 1803 so one of the recent updates has caused this. I have yet to find any setting in Windows Sound Control Panel that resolves this issue.

      ¿Any news?

I'm interested in your progress because I have a problem that may be related to that.

(in my case I can only record with the First input, the rest are not working).

I have discovered that this issue is not confined to the UMC products and driver. I tested with a USB sound interface using Windows built-in drivers and found the same problem. But this has led me to discovering a solution for the UMC interfaces.

Open Windows Control Panel -> Sound -> Recording tab, select IN 1-2 and click Properties. Select the Enhancements tab and check the option: Disable all enhancements. Click OK. Make the same change to IN 3-4 if required. This stops Windows treating the inputs as a mono source. I have tested all four inputs on the UMC 404HD and they now work correctly with Audacity.

      ESD

Thanks! I'm going to try that later today, see if that also does something for the issues I've been having since updating Win10 on our church recording PC.

Recording through the WASAPI driver still worked fine after the upgrade, but playback was choppy as if there wasn't enough processing power available. After also upgrading the driver, 4-channel recording was no longer possible in Audacity, only 2-channel 1+2 or 3+4 -- which fails, because it doesn't seem to be possible to record fewer channels than the device provides. (This never was possible, not on our X-USB either, it results in a 'device not found' error when starting recording.)

This is definitely not because we're not using ASIO, we've been doing 4-channel recording through WASAPI on our UMC404HD since 2017 (we don't need low-latency operation, recompiling Audacity is a hassle and Audacity is already complex enough for most techs.) The other Windows audio driver access methods -- MME and DirectSound -- indeed only support 2 channels.

It's unrelated, unfortunately, but I left the enhancements switched off in any case...

In your message you mention "I verified recording and playback of all channels through ASIO and WASAPI using Reaper (x64)."

Are these included in the UMC_v4.59 drivers in the Audacity software or did you download and installed these separately?

      Many thanks - Charis

Bought a Behringer product, no software was included. I had to register at Music Tribe which I did. I then had to create a care ticket. I did 3 times. Every time they close my ticket (product registration) without a single reply (or giving me my promised software).

This is a serious lack of customer service and really gets me frustrated. I hope someone can help me out in this matter as there is no proper way to get in touch with anyone of Behringer or Music Tribe (without making an extreme expensive phonecall)

Basicly I'm starting a Podcast and want to add sounds and music on the fly, like the sound effects that the radio people add, or being able to play previously recorded interviews, messages, etc. all while recording with my michrophone also.

I thought that maybe by just plugging a cable from the computer's output to a 1/4 TRS input of the UMC404HD, it would work, but then I thought that the phantom power would mess thing up... I don't know

Is this possible on the UMC404HD? If so, how?

Sorry if my english is bad, navite spanish speaker.

Hello Alberto, welcome to the community.

To connect a PC or phone output to the UHD404HD, you should use a stereo splitter cable like this into inputs 1&2 or 3&4. There is no phantom power on the 1/4" TRS part of the combi input connectors so no risk of damage.

The mono/stereo switch only affects monitoring not the USB recording. You can usually choose in DAW software whether tracks are stereo or mono.
