    Hello, I just bought a MIDAS DL153.
The software version is DL1 G3.4.4rel-11.
I saw that there was a version G3.4.6 rel-9. Is this the last one? If yes how do I update the DL153 knowing that I have an M32R LIVE?

THE M32R LIVE is connected with a single RJ45 to the DL153. On the DL 153 I have the red led on (error) while the second RJ45 is not connected. Normal?

    Thank you

Hi @blanc I hope you are safe and well.

Firstly let me quickly explain: You cannot update any of the "blue" IO boxes directy from any of the M32 series consoles, the boxes are compatible but they are part of the PRO series series world (the big brother of the M32)

      Secondy the versions you mention:

G3.4.6rel-9 this is the most recent update

G3.4.4rel11 this is the previous version

Most PRO series users would simply connect their blue IO box to the console and update it all as a complete system but as some users are connecting via M32 or perhaps do not want to get the PRO console out and set up simply to update one box, the "IO updater" software was created to address this need.

To download it please go to this link:

      https://www.midasconsoles.com/Categories/Midas/Mixers/I-O-Interfaces/DL153/p/P0AUB/Downloads#googtrans(en|en)

Then follow the videos detailing how to update:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWu3MGjukO0

      Part 2:

I hope this is of use to you.

      Kind regards, Dale.

    Hi,
I'm said. The XR is such a nice peace of audio equipment, but without a reliable working asio interface my multi-track recording goal is a farce.
Windows 10 pro b64 computer. Up-to-date. DAW Tracktion v8. I can get everithing working, but whaterver I do recording music or playing back music, after a minute or so CRASH of the crappy asio driver.
To restore I have to go into the XR audio settings select 2CH/2Ch and go back to 18CH/18CH. Then go to Tracktion and restore the audio interface there.
I have USB2 / USB3 , al kinds off different buffer sizes and the "save" mode. Does really help.
I even tried the old asio driver 4.38. Also crashes.
I don't now what I can do more. And wow what little is said in the manual or video's about this asio interface.
Any help very welcome. Looks like the 500 euro's was a waiste; I really bought it to do multitrack recording.

Hello Edwin, welcome to the community.

Do you get any error message that tells you that the XR18 driver has crashed? Problems with USB audio interfaces can sometimes be caused by conflicts with other devices. Sometimes these can be traced by temporarily disabling other audio devices.

      Hi Rex,
      Thank, for you swift response.
Often, not always,  a "USB not not recognized " pops up. I dont' get a particular XR18 error. But if it happens the XR18 is no longer connected in the Asio driver control panel.

Also when the computer is booted and I power the XR18 it doesn't get connected and often this message appears. The only way to get it connected is go into the XR18 audio settings and switch back and forth between the 18CH 2CH setting.

I have put a new USB card (3.0) in this computer and also tried this. With exaclty the same result. The computer has no other (usb) audio interface, except what is on the motherboard.
So should I really have to disable this?

The drivers for on-board sound have been known to cause problems. It is a diagnostic step. How long is the USB cable between the PC and XR18?

Make sure that the XR18 is not set as a Windows default recording or playback device in Control Panel -> Sound.

      Hi Rex,

The cable I use is 2 meter and of Type "high speed USB2.0"

Why can the XR18 not be default playback or recording? I need the playback at least. My itention is to stream music from spotify to the XR18, get it on my phones play along and stream music + mic recording back to the (same) computer into a DAW for recording.

I've been testing for an other 6 hours and incorporated in total 3 computers (will do a 4th)

The computer upto now is a pretty old one, and had also a USB3.0 card in it. And that port refuses to operate in anyway. Even if I am not using Traktion whatsoever.
So very straightforward test setup: YouTube plays music over Beringher OUT 1/2 to the XR18
USB3.0 not working, On the USB2.0 it is working but crappy: crashes frequently
When I remove the 3.0 card; things get really better; occasionally crash, still not reliable enough.

Then my current laptop (6 years old) has both 2/3 USB incorporated.
NONE! of those port will work

      Then I tried a very spiffy new PC (i7 10th_gen) which has a mix of USB 3.1 / 3.0 / 2.0

      ALL the USB are working.

But, on the last machine Tracktion 8 is not installed....
So that where I am currently, I am starting you questioning T8 being the cause.

Do you have any idea why the big difference between XR18 driver 4.59 and 4.38?
4.38 is said to be legacy and offers 4 pairs of Beringers outs in windows.
      4.59 only 1 pair.....

It's a diagnostic step to see if Windows or some other program was causing a conflict.

That is also my experience. The USB ports on recent PCs seem to work a lot better than older designs. USB-C in particular seems to be very good at supporting older USB standards.

I was told that there were a lot of problems with the way Windows handled multiple WASAPI devices. It did not work consistently so the recent drivers are restricted to a single stereo device. Some people still use the earlier drivers but they may not always work.

My UMC has performed well as a USB (In) -to- MIDI 5-pin (Out) interface. This MIDI Out is first connected to a BeatBuddy, followed by a MIDI Solutions Merger which allows multiple branches in my MIDI network. BeatBuddy is not a real-time USB device.

I want to trigger the BeatBuddy's drum kits with a DrumBrute which until now has not been included in the network, but has been a stand alone device. It has, however been plugged into the UMC's MIDI In port for just this sort of future application.

To my surprise, the UMC is not passing DrumBrute's note data through to the BeatBuddy. When I plug DrumBrute directly in to BeatBuddy, the triggering works fine.

This problem can be solved with the purchase of another Merger, but I'm wondering if anything can be done to put the UMC's 5-pin connectors into MIDI Thru mode.

    Thanks

The UMC404HD will not automatically pass Midi In to Midi Out but you could use a Midi utility (e.g. MidiOx) running on the PC to do this.

There are several ways to connect an Android phone to a UMC404HD. If you can explain what you want to achieve, we may be able to help.

We were using Zoom and he was able to play a soundboard from his iPad through his UMC404HD and I was able to hear it. I tried using my Samsung Note 9 to test out the same thing, but he couldnt hear it. I didnt know if maybe I just didnt have the settings right on my interface.

Just trying to use aux output to run monitor speakers from my ub1622fx-pro mixer. Everything works fine except there is no effects (fx) coming through on the monitor, there is effects from the digital effects processor fine on the main, but nothing i do seems to add fx to the aux/monitor. Can this be easily done?

Hello Robin, welcome to the community.

The UB1622FX-Pro does not provide a simple way to add the internal FX return to the Aux bus.

If you are not using the Sub 1-2 buses and the Aux Return 1 inputs, you could try this trick: Switch the FX Return to Sub 1-2 instead of the Main mix. Switch all channel sends to Sub 1-2 off. Switch Sub 1-2 to Main off (all four buttons up). Connect the Sub 1-2 outputs to the Aux Return 1 inputs. Set the Sub 1-2 faders to 0dB. The Stereo Aux Return 1 controls will adjust the FX in the mixes. The left one will control FX in the Main mix and the right one will allow FX to be sent to the monitors.

If you try this, be careful with the settings. Some wrong settings could cause very loud feedback. I would turn off all speakers until all settings are done and the mixer is stable. Start with the Sub 1-2 faders down and bring them up slowly - watching for any clip LEDs.

Hi RexBecket. I tried the trick of linking the Sub1-2 outputs to a spare stereo channel and now I have well controlled FX in both my main and monitor (Aux) channels. Thanks heaps for this simple solution

I'm running MacOS 10.11 (El Capitan) with Ableton LIVE 10.6.1. I'm trying to use a Behringer X32 Compact as an audio I/O and control surface for recording/mixdown. I have successfully assigned all 32 channels to proper physical inputs, and have enabled Expansion Card outputs to go to Mac/Ableton and record on all 32 tracks. I need routing help to get both recording on new track while listening to playback on other tracks. Can't get that to work. Also, I updated the X32 firmware to 4.02. No documentation anywhere to describe new features and controls and how to use them. Thanks in advance.

      Hi Bill @Bill_Lundgren ,

Welcome to the forum. It would be much quicker to help you if you would export your scene to a file (using the Utility button on the console, then 6th encoder) on a USB stick, then attach it to your next post (Choose File below). That way we can see what you currently have setup and better advise.

      Hi Bill @Bill_Lundgren ,

Thanks for the scene file. You are using all 32 channels at once?

I'm trying to use a Behringer X32 Compact as an audio I/O and control surface for recording/mixdown.

Attached is a scene that will do that. In order to send the post fader channel signal to the DAW (via USB), you have to assign them individually on the Routing, Out 1-16 and Ultranet screens (where you can assign Direct Out Chan, post fader). Then assign those to the Card Out in banks of 8.

I need routing help to get both recording on new track while listening to playback on other tracks.

I'm not sure I understand this sentence. What other tracks? I did assign USB 1-2 from the DAW to the Aux In 1-2 using the Aux In Remap. Not sure if that is what you wanted.

      Paul (@Paul_Vannatto):

I have set up all 32 tracks with fixed inputs (Ch 3/4-keyboard stereo out, Ch11 (A01 on S32 AES50-A) etc.) and standardized a template in Ableton LIVE. So, if I've recorded a keyboard track, I should be able to play that track back while a guitar is recorded through Ch 28 (AES50-A-Input 20). Your solution should work - I can just as easily listen to the Master Track stereo output that has all tracks summed to it, rather than each individual track coming back from the DAW to the X32. I will see if I can get your routing to work tomorrow. Won't sleep much tonight... THANK YOU!

      Paul (@Paul_Vannatto):

Thank you for the scene file. I went through your written response step by step and saw (I think) that the scene file had the required assignments already done. When I fired up Ableton LIVE and assigned the X-USB to both input and output and enable all channels for both, I still had no playback through the console.

When you set up LIVE for any interface, you first enable all I/O channels. With a signal coming in to say Channel 1 on the X32, you can see a meter responding to the signal in the pull down where you assign that channel in LIVE to a physical input. Matching up all active channels that will be used, and as it turns out, with the X32 it is a linear 1:1 relationship - physical Ch X to software input Ch X - all the way through the channel assignments.

However, the outputs are still the problem. With a pre-recorded track playing back, OR, a record-enabled channel with an input signal on it, all tracks are sent to the Master Track for summing and output. You can see what outputs the signal is supposedly on by the same graphical meter in say output pair Ch 19/20. If you assign the Master Track output to that Ch 19/20 pair, nothing happens. Dead air. That stereo pair doesn't show up in any channel strips on the X32 as a live incoming signal. I'm just not getting something...

I do have a work-around if I have to use it, although it will probably turn into a PITA as I get really involved in a recording/mixing project. That work-around is to use the X32 as the input-only analog I/O interface, and the main stereo output pair on a MOTU 828 Mk 3 for the output-only to drive the monitoring system. This does allow me to record, and playback and record another track at the same time and hear everything; however, I can't use the X32 as a mixing console that way, and I can't help but think that work-around setup will come back to bite me when I least need it to. And, I'm still trying to get the software to recognize the X32 as a Mackie HUI control surface.

I'm a pest I know, but this is a bit frustrating... Do you have any recommendations for other people I should go pester?

I re-read my last message to you. It reads all wrong. Please accept my apologies if I inadvertently offended you. I simply didn't want to take up a disproportionate amount of your valuable time. I appreciate your advice and it has proven to have been very helpful. As a volunteer for a non-profit, I know how a situation like mine can turn into a "I wish he'd just go away" type deal.

And I am making progress - I have full 32-channel I/O, but without full MIDI mapping to every channel strip/fader, I have to mix "outside the box" on the console, which isn't horrible. I just need practice working that way.

Again, my apologies for not doing a better job stating my intent.

      Regards,

      Bill

I won't ask anymore questions that require someones time in figuring out how to solve my issue?  Ill ask an easier question and pray that someone can answer.

Will the Behringer FCA1616 work with Mojave?

I am presently using Catalina, and I can't seem to get it to be recognized.  Nor can anyone tell me if this is even possible. If it won't work with Catalinia, Can anyone tell me the latest OS X it will work with?  If neither of these questions can be answered, can ANYONE tell me what Audio Interface will work with Catalina.  I cannot believe it has become so difficult to figure out what audio interface you can and cannot use.    Thank you so much!

Hello, and thank you for reading this!

I am trying to connect my Xenyx Q802USB mixer to my MacBook using the USB outputs. Since my MacBook is new, I only have Thunderbolt 3 ports, so i am using a dock to convert the USB to Thunderbolt 3. I'm trying to use Zoom conference software.

My MacBook sees two USB audio inputs: USB Audio Codec and Advanced USB Audio Device. Neither of them shows any signal coming in. The results are the same within the Zoom software and in the Mac System software.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestion to check the security settings for the mic. The only app seeking access to the mic is Zoom, and it is already approved. So, that's not the source of our problem.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this in the original post, but the setup worked fine the first two times we used it, then stopped working with no apparent changes to our setup or software.

Check the USB/2-Track To Main Mix button. When this is pressed it mutes the USB recording feed. If this is not the cause of the problem, I would try using a Thunderbolt 3 to USB 2.0 cable rather than connecting through the dock.

The Zoom app has a control for input level. Make sure this has not got turned right down.

There don't appear to be any forum members with experience of this setup, Jake. I suggest that you raise a Care ticket for Technical Support explaining your problem. This is done by clicking on Support at the top of the page and then clicking the Create a Care Ticket button. This is only possible if you have completed all the required fields in your profile. Hello tribe. I am struggling with getting along with this interface. I want to like it better than the Native Instruments KA6 Mk1 because it has a better headphone amp and im almost exclusively in sennheisers.

However going between the DAW and my online school videos is a real chore because I cannot manually change my sample rates. I like my sample rate in the 96k range in my daw for super low latency on amp sim plugins but my school videos always want 48k.

I have to unplug my interface and reconnect and close out programs and restart them to be able to get any working.

This is really frustrating and I am sure that other 204hd owners are experiencing the same thing.

Has anyone found a solution to this?
